oh also when i take my oil cap off (an keep it off). the idle slowly dies down an ones it gets to about maybe 200 rpm's the motor sluggs a bet an die's<? is that typical

30 seconds of searching could have netted you the info 18 hours ago. Stock 240SXs came with a 4.08.

Usually means its time to replace your PCV valve.

Bleh, so I are no read good today, sue me.

Anyways, pulling the oil cap off, changes the pressure inside the crankcase. It screws with MAFS readings. Normally, the engine will just run slightly rough until the cap is replaced. If your idle keeps dropping, and then stalls out, its possible you have something wrong. You may have a stuck PCV, or bad blowby. You could also have some misplaced vacuum lines. Its hard to say for sure without being able to run any tests. Is the engine stock, and how many miles are on it? Does it burn oil/coolant?

Either way, replacing the PCV valve can be one of the tests, they're like $3.
