rear brake problem on 2010 ex35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have a 2010 ex35 with about 29,500 miles on it. The warranty expired in December. A few months before that I noted to the dealer that there was a shuddering when the brakes were applied at highway speeds. Since I did not feel it in the steering wheel I guessed that it was from the rears. The dealer resurfaced the rear rotors at no cost to me.

Of course, this cured the problem briefly, but it has returned. I see on many forums that this is a typical problem for this car. I suspect that it will now be found that the rotors need to be replaced. By the way, the dealer said the front pads were fine, but the rear pads will also need replacement soon.

Has anyone found Infiniti to be cooperative in taking responsibility for this to any degree? If they won't do so, I see no need to reward bad behavior and I will take the car to an independent shop.

Thanks for your help

never heard of it affecting the rear rotors... I had them apply a TSB on my front rotors. Do a little search and you can find the TSB number on one of my posts a year or more ago.

I always thought that resurfacing rotors was a band-aid fix for the brake shuddering problem on any car, and that rotor replacement is a better solution to help prevent the problem from recurring. The rear brake pads on the EX can also wear out pretty quickly depending on your driving conditions.

As for how Infiniti might handle this, it depends on your servicing dealership. I think that Infiniti in general is good at taking care of the customer, but it always comes down to how good (or bad) each individual dealership is. You might as well see if your dealer will take care of the issue for you at no charge.

My wife was able to get a free out of warranty repair on our EX for a different issue. She diplomatically expressed her frustration with the issue the car was having. So Infiniti decided that they wanted a happy customer and made the repair at no cost to us.

When I asked my dealer about fixing my brakes, they told me it's gonna cost ya.

There was no convincing them.

There's a few more Infiniti dealers being built in my city, so maybe the want to please the customer will be higher than it was before.

I'm having the same issue. I'm in transition out of warranty but being offered an extended warranty via Nissan. Do you know if the warranty will cover this break issue? also what about O2 sensors apparently one of mine is going/gone.
How fast do I need to fix either or both?
Dealer only or local mechanic ok?
thanks
