REAR ball joint taper: S13 S14 same?

Ok, it is a well known fact that the FRONT ball joints are not interchangeable between the S13 and S14 due to a different taper on the shank. My question here is in regards to the REAR. I have heard of people running S14 or Z32 rear spindles on an S13 with no mention of having to swap the rear ball joints. I have also heard of people swaping RLCA's with no mention of swaping ball joints. I believe the ball joint housing/casing is a different size, but what about the taper on the shank. From what I can tell, I believe both S13 and S14 rear ball joints use the same 9 degree taper (and S14 front as well).

Also, in regards to the front ball joints, I know it is common to press S14 ball joints in to the S13 FLCA for 5lug swaps. My question here is whether or not anyone has anyone ever mesured the difference in the casing size between the S13 and S14 front ball joints. I know for a fact that the S13 front is 1.615" or ~41mm. Is the S14 identical in this respect? ...or is it just close enough to work? I would greatly appreciate it if someone could measure a s14 front ball joint to verify. I have gone to part stores to measure for myself, but the ball joints are all special order.

Anyways, any help here is appreciated. The reason I ask is because I am researching possibly running S14 roll center adjusters on another chassis.

well for the rears, you can use the front ball joints from an s12.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am not inquiring about S13 rear ball joint replacement. It has been known for some time that the B12 Sentra ball joint can be used for the S13 RLCA. I want to know specifically about the taper on the S13 vs. S14 rear ball joint. Where as the front ball joints have to be matched, S13 ball joint to S13 spindle and S14 ball joint to S14 spindle, I believe an S13 rear ball joint will mate to an S14 rear spindle, or the other way around (or a Z32,R33,R34 spindle for that matter). Can anyone confirm this?

Im actually on the hunt for S14 rear lower ball joints.

I am restoring my S14s whole rear suspension, and I would like to throw new ball joints in while Im at it.

The problem is, all I can track down is full control arms, apparently no one makes a ball joint separately.

Anyone know the crossover?

Rear ball joints are not sold separate. You have to buy a whole new arm. However, from what I have found, you can use B12 Sentra front balljoints in the rear of an S13 and for an S14, It appears that the front and rear ball joint are interchangeable.

Maybe someone who has an S14 with Z32 aluminum rear spindles could chime in? Does the S14 rear ball joint match the taper of the Z32 conical spacer? If so, that answers my question.

All S13, Z32, R32 all have the same rear ball joint (same RLCA too). S14, S15, R33, R34 all have the same rear ball joint (same as front ball joints in case anyone was wondering). Anyways, the only difference I can find is the size of the casing. S13/Z32/R32 rear ball joint is 38mm. S14/S15/R33/R34 rear ball joint is 41mm. Other then that, I believe they are the same, meaning same taper. Can anyone confirm this?

No. According to KnifeForkDriver, the casing sizes are different. The S13 has a 38mm casing. The S14 has a 41mm casing. Since these are press-fit, the S13 ball joint might slip into the S14 RLCA without much freeplay, but it won't be a proper force-fit by any stretch of imagination.

Just get front ball joints for the S14.

I just finished rebuilding my rear suspension, and I replaced the lower BJs while I was in there. I used Moog front BJs for an S14.

I checked the taper, and all other dimensions, and the new front, and old rears matched.

I just picked up a full s14 5-lug conversion. I plan on using the s14 rear spindles.I also need to know if the s13 rear ball joint is the same taper as the s14 rear ball joint taper. Someone has to know this.
