Ive wrapped up another sr install. Car runs great only problem is battery wont charge. Reason being whenever I try to connect the thick white wire for the alternator i get this really bright WELDING type light and sparks. I will also mention that the line that runs from the master clutch cylinder to the slave cylinder hets really hot and starts smoking If this has ever happened to any one here let me know.

Are you putting it to the wrong battery post?

First off, I wouldn't reccommend trying to make wiring connections while power is running thru them. And if the wiring is overheating, possibly the wiring is contacted other metal somewhere and drawing the amps.

replace the ground wire fromt he motor to the battery. In stock form is goes from the intake to the frame then to the battery. If you use an oem style ground wire make sure to clean all connections thoroughly with sandpaper or a wire brush. Black is ground (negative) and red is power (positive) make sure to double check you alt wiring and starter wiring. It sounds like your connecting the ground wire straight to the positive terminal and this is a good way to break sensitive electrical components.

I have poissitive to possitive and negative to negative. The alternator has the large plug which you cant mess up and a small black ground that bolts on to the back of it. The wire giving me trouble is the third a thick white wire that bolts on to the back of it. Everything works great on the car it runs smooth after a good charge to my westco battery, but as you can guess battery drains after about 10 miles or so. If i connect the white wire and then try to reconnect the possitive terminal on my battery its as if i were welding it on it even wants to melt away the battery post itself. As for the grounding Im going to try and do new negative terminal lines tommorow ill let you know how that went. Thanks for your help. Let me know if you can think of anything else.
