Flatbed it to the nearest Infiniti dealer for best results.....or just wing it yourself and cross your fingers when you go to twist the key in the ignition.

More Q45`s are destroyed by inexperienced owners playing technician than any other cause.

When you are in trouble...you call an attorneyWhen you are sick.....you go to the doctorselling a home.....call a Realtorpipes leaking....call a plumberWhen you cant spell......enroll in community collegeHouse burning?....call the firemenQ45 broken.....get out the "toolkit" and play mechanic?????????

WTF dealer is 47 miles away from you. There are three near the Beltway.

Here what you are looking for.

I would say as long as you MAKE SURE that #1 is at TDC you should be able to get away with turning the cams SLIGHTLY.

Zip ties aren't foolproof, and he mentioned that he's replacing the chains - so they're a non issue

... might want to lighten up on this guy a bit... remember - he's not working on your Q... it's his!

I've been working on Q for 18.5 years and I wouldn't replace my chains or guides [again], I would pay Byron to do it..................HAPPILY.

Replacing the chains turns a simiple [7 hour] job with a 95% chance of success by an expert into another 15 hours of work [valve covers+ hoses + upper front covers] with even more chance of a failure.

I've been fortunate enough to put chains on an 06 VK yeah it's a blast. I was thinking that is what some of these guys do for fun. That's the kind of thing that makes me dread getting out of bed in the morning. The shear amount of work entailed and likelihood of breaking stupid parts is deterrent enough for most DIYers. It just has to be done sometimes.

What happened to the VK that caused a chain replacement?

The short of it is it came in with a PO300 I could not find, bank 1 timing was off and I could not figure out why. I checked everything, all was in spec. It seemed that the ECM was not making correct judgment for short term fuel trim since there was nothing else. Well I had neglected to check compression (car had <30K didn't seem like it was necessary, and not all that easy to do) since it was a slight miss at idle. So one day I finally check it and B2 was ~10 lower than B1. Pulled the cover and found that the B2 timing sprocket aligning mark had broken and shifted the intake cam ~10 degrees off target. I had to pull the chains off and then we decided to say screw it and put a long block in it.

Live and learn and check compression almost always now. In talking to our regional rep he had to come down and photograph it to show the engineers since I found something no one else had seen. Go figure.

That's the kind of problems I like to get my hands on, the only down side is that they pay crap. But the life experience is well worth it.

Yeah it was a learning experience, there are so many digital pulse signals that needed to be verified with an O'scope. It took the better part of two weeks to diagnose, than 6 hours for a new motor. It was pretty fun except for the having to stay there all night to pay the bills but the stuff I learned with that has been beneficial.

The car had no service history and was bought at some dealer in IL and shipped to VA. That's the best single indicator of what has happened to a car.

If the driver side (left bank) timing is off you're better off to set the timing from scratch, per the factory service manual.

You must set the passenger-side(right bank) first, rotate the crank 120 Degrees clockwise and then set the driver-side(left bank).

These might help a little bit. zerothread?id=156726
