Hi, just wondering if rogue 08 SL AWD (canadian model) is pre-wired for fog lights.since I didn't get the SL pacakge,it didn't come with fog light switch. Also,if it's pre-wired,any suggestion on what would be best for light kit to get..I'm just looking for a basic one,white/amber,not too bright. (i think specs are 55W, H11 bulb size)..Im thinking 3000-6000K..any thoughts on this? good website to buy from?

Also, one that is legally acceptable here in Alberta? Has anyone had installed already in alberta, how much (incl installation), whereabouts?

thank you

Hello and welcome to the NICOClub Rogue Forums.

Lots of information including fog light information can be found in the Official Rogue FAQ.

From the experience of our members, all Rogues (trim level does not seem to matter) come pre-wired from the factory for fog lights. Read more in this thread from the FAQ: zer...rogue

A parts list is provided with everything you will need. You can purchase the parts from the dealer or from one of our sponsors on the RH sidebar=>

Note: The factory turn signal/headlight switch gets replaced with one that has an additional fog light switch. Look closely at the turn signal in this photo from Nissan:http://www.news-nouvelles.niss...4.jpgImage courtesy Nissan Canada

The link I posted shows the parts for the OEM fog lights.

One of members Eddnog, has a heavily modified Rogue and has swapped HID bulbs into the fog lamps. You can see pictures of his setup here about halfway down:

Notice his fogs are yellow as he used a selective yellow tint and 3200K bulb. The low beams are OEM HID's from the factory. Unfortunately this is a US only option, we don't get them in Canada...

Hi,

I was thinking of getting this HID fog lights 4300K,H11 bulbs:

http://www.hidxenonlights.com/nissan-ni ... ghts-p-195

...but this one uses 35W..in the owner's manual (p8-26),looks like they recommend 55W..does that mean that 35w won't be compatible with the electrical/wiring set up already in my rogue, OR could I still have this one installed? if I use the 35 W HID,would it have any electrical problem? thanks

Halogens need 55W to work properly when HID lights need only 35W.So, using a HID kit will pull about one third less power from your car (battery, alternator, wiring), so it will save your car using a less demanding system.BTW, no need of the slim version of the ballasts, you have plenty of space to install them in the car and slim ballasts are less reliable.

In the owner manual, they don't recommend 55W, they tell you that your halogen lights pull 55W (so in a way, they tell you not to go above this wattage or you could deteriorate your wirings).

With this kit, you will still need fog light housings and change the switch.

Personally, I have never seen the point of installing a HID kit in fogs as the light output from this type of housing is so poor. It is way more useful in the low beam housings.

Good point Pescakl, the fog light pattern is very low and close to the vehicle. This is NOT a location where you want to provide better illumination. You want better lighting further down the road via low beams... so you can see what is coming at you! By the time it reaches 10ft in front of you, it's too late.... thump, thump!!!

How about Xenon? 55W 4300K. I know when speaking of higher voltage light sources Xenon is whiter (and thus appear brighter) than Halogen bulbs... although I'm not sure this is the case with 12V systems. I also believe Xenons run cooler than Halogen but not sure what benefit that would yield.

Anyway... this eBay seller shows these in a Rogue... but for all I know its Photoshopped.

Although advertised for the Rogue they don't appear to be custom aftermarket replacements because one of the photos shows something that looks like a under-mount bracket. Then again in the FAQ second they state:

"These lights are meant to mount behind the factory pre-cut fog light holes from the inside of your bumper."

So... my guess is you position them to "aim" out the existing fog light openings in the bumper... but probably not a good option for people looking to upgrade their existing fog lights unless they want to try and modify the housing.

FYI: They also claim they will include a "Free" 7-Color Halo Ring... just for asking.

I can definitely confirm that the vast majority of the light coming out of the factory fog lamps on the Rogue hit the immediate car length of ground directly in front of the vehicle. Otherwise there is only a hint of additional light that goes everywhere else--most of that being reflected off the ground.

That being said, I did end up swapping out the 3200Kelvin kit for a 5000Kelvin kit, just so that I squeeze a little more light out of the low mounted fogs.

And I also concur that there is plenty more than enough room for standard size, high-quality HID kits without slim ballasts.
