actually, you cant remove the transfer case portion entirely, because it houses the output shaft, the oil pump for the transfer case [if you gutted the insides, and just fabbed a new output shaft, it would be starved for oil] and the shifter. the best course of action would be to remove the drive chain, maybe the clutch pack, leaving the center shaft the way it is, and sealing the output for the front driveshaft.

oh yeah, for the sake of easiness. i was trying to help think of a way to use it without the big hump on the side. i guess i am showing my ignorance as i have never worked on one. hmmmm oil pump huh? wonder how to get around that. well, i think i will have to retire from trying to solve this one. continue. i will chime back in if i ever have one in front of me to take apart.

im gonna need a R33 GTR clip w/brakes, intercooler. the sheetmetal and headlights are not needed.

no rush either, need it in 6 months.

Got my R33 RB26 w/ RB25 turbo trans for 4500$ shipped.

I haven't received it yet though, so hopefully when I do everything will check out ok. Missing the air flow meters and the fan has a problem supposedly..

I got my R32 GTR Front Clip, w/ AWD transmission, FMIC, cross member, front brakes and suspension, steering, pedals, shifter, radio, dash , etc etc etc. for $3500 + shipping (From CA to AZ).

By the way, GTR Shop, it looks as if you have a typo on your website saying $5000 for a GTR motorset. Thats quite a bit when you have to pay for overseas shipping as well. unless of course these prices are NZD already. Also if it is the exchange rate is .666999 making it $3334.90

Also, do you guys have dealer accounts?

Does anyone know if the bellhousings from the rb25 and the z31,z32 are interchangeable? Also Ivory, do you have any more details on swapping the front cases and/or if this will work? Jed

the CASES are interchangeable [below 89 z31 is a borg warner transmission, and is excluded]. the z32 bellhousing will NOT bolt to the rb motors. the point of the discussion was that the cases will swap, letting you use a different transmission. you still have to aquire the proper rb bellhousing/front case.

and in the case of the z32 transmission, you may have to modify the shift linkage/driveshaft inorder for it to work in an S chassis.

it would be best to set the car up to take the hybrid transmission in the first place [may need a modded transmission mount, shifter, driveshaft] so that if you ever need a new transmission, you can use one availible from a junkyard instead of paying and waiting for a JDM transmission.

If anyone wants a 6spd, you'd be better off going with a Getrag V160 out of mk4 Supras and having a custom bellhousing made. Those are very robust gearboxes and have withstood lots of power in stock form. If I successfully do what I want with my Rb26 project, that's what I was considering doing.

GTR Shop, can we order an Rb26 from you with an Rb20 or rb25 5spd gearbox? I just wanted to make sure I understood that correctly. Looking at prices here in the US, it looks like around $5-6k for a rb26 clip, $200-300 shipping and as much as $1.5k (from Mckinney) for a rb25 transmission unless you find one somewhere else. I don't feel like paying as much as $7.5k for all that. Not to mention, I'd still need a 200zr oil pan (would still need modding, unless I made my own).

Hehe, I kick myself for not jumping on it but, I could have had a 2jz-gte w/ getrag 6spd, ecu, harness, etc (complete motor set) for $1.8k from a friend! I was seriously considering a 2jz swap in my 240z but, I want the rb26 so bad I passed it up! :thinker

I'm in phoenix and tucson, depending on the time of year. Our GT-R swap is quite different, custom turbo kit, etc.

http://www.ssr-engineering.com is "our" unfortunately no pictures can be released since we have alot of unique stuff under the hood. I'll post pictures soon but, if you want to know something i'll tell you it's running a blister kit, and it's a nice shade of blue, so you can't really miss it.
