wow. Thats retarded! in a good way. the Maxima wouldn't be that bad, I mean its already set up for AWD and has the same rear suspension set up as the new skyline. the transmission tunnel would suck tho. Perhaps a VH45DE? I dunno...

now, an RB26DETT in the 72 240Z I found today, you bet!

maxima is already set up for awd????

fyi, you will find any engine ever made under the hood of a Z car, somewhere. RB's are pretty popular.

Why would you want to (in the Maxima) go from a VQ35DE(?) to a RB26DETT?

I think a VQ35DET would be much more appealing... 35% more displacement. So, unless your tuning the crap out of the RB26DETT...

With enough CASH and enough (or too little) knowledge anything is possible, but in the end is it worth it.

Figure the $20K's for a newish Max add $7K for the RB26DETT, then double it for all the fab work and then add another $10k for the crap that goes wrong you never thought of and PRESTO - you've spent nealr $65K for a car you can't legally tag, muchless ever get nearly half your money (forget about your blood and sweat) out of if you ever tried to sell.

Take $5k and turbo the CRAP out of the VQ35DE.

The Maxima uses a transverse engine. Even if it is set up for AWD, you still need to hack up the chassis for the trans and set up a rear suspension and drive system. The rear suspension is not the same as the V35. Some of the components may be very similar, but they are not the same.

Not anything is offered in AWD. Nissans are the ones that are most AWD now. Most of the Toyota line is exactly the same. There is an AWD Camry though. The only AWD Hondas are the trucks, they used to have an AWD Integra, but it was very slow since it used a D series engine. The Japanese Nissan Teana and the Maxima are not the same either, very close, but there are alot of small differences.
