That is the AWD transmission there, as already stated.

Judging by the oil fill cap, it's an R32. R33's use different fill caps.

It really doesn't look too bad, I'm glad you're happy with it.

Speaking of compression, doing a dry compression test on a motor is worthless. The motor is not warm, there is not enough power to crank it to full compression unless you use a starter, and the throttle plates need to be fully opened. That's a ****** if it's not in the car. The best way to determine if it's in good condition is to get it running and test it with good oil and a leak down.

Good luck with it. :)

I hear ya... thats why I planned from the start, without being able to start and hear this beast run, to go ahead and tear it down and go thru it....

I'm really in no hurry, as I already have plenty of power in my current motor. I'm just one of those guys that isn't happy once I'm done with a project, until I can start on another, so thats where I stand right now.

My current L6 would spank a RB26 unless its got some money sunk into it... but I've been wanting to build one of these brutes for a long while....I think I'll be satisfied once I finish putting this motor in my Z car.

thanks for the input guysjoel

ive been to osaka guys and this was a lil while back...like a couple months ago. They are really nice guys, but they are a lil shady. i wanted a 2jz from them and he ended up sellin it on me so i went up to check out his stock. Once i got up there (5 hours later) i was a lil dissapointed with the 25's and 26's i had spoke with him about. One of the 25's had some weird transmission on it that i had never seen and when i asked him about it he said he had no idea what it was off either, but he assured me i wouldnt get that one. That right there made me a little leary about his buisiness practices. Next he showed me the 25 with the right transmission on it and it had a lot of corrosion on the coil-pack cover so i didnt really like that one. next he showed me the 26 which he neglected to tell me that had a cut wiring harness on the phone. so that was out and then he showed me two super clean 6spd s15 swaps. but i decided not to go with any of the motors...my advice to anyone buying a engine would be to go their personally and scope it other wise they seem shady. just my 2 cents

ps if you guys wanna peep my swap

Yuck... I hate the ITB's I have on my current set *** HERE ***. I'm having a plenum made for the RB that will just use a single TB.

I don't like the driveabilaty (sp) of the ITB's

are you dropping the new motor into your Z or into a different car? For 3K, I think it looks really good.
