Yes he is. Larry did all the tuning but Chris (aka Mr. T) did this last pull. Larry was on the other side of the shop with his hands over his ears.

Which freeze plug was it? I had mine pop out of my rb20 in the very back of the motor during regular driving.

Same one...right below the oil plug in the head.

Very nice car! I'd bet my nads something allowed the coolant passages to be pressurized...

Not blown. He popped a new one in and runs fine. I think the block flexed enough to pop it out. I'm also imagining this is the reason why people with serious hp RB's have used resin to fill or partially fill the coolant passages in the block.

idk if this is tru but when i got my engine it was sitting for a while and where you guys have said youve blown freeze plugs i have rust on my block from that freeze plug down my block and my friend said they probally pull a freeze plug to drain the coolant before shipping. could this be a possability that they just put it back in and thats why it falls out.

there is a 12mm bolt that drains the coolant out the block. "IF" they pulled the freeze plug out you wont' want to use it again. New freeze plugs are cheap. I suggest replacing them all, to save the inconvenince of having them leak later on.

Ehh, I see what you are saying, but our cast iron blocks are not very ductile....

I'm leaning towards pressure in the coolant system.

A lot of drag spec blocks have their cooling passages filled for hardening/strength. Also the reduction of cooling passage area increases the pressure within the cooling system.

Cast is brittle, but it can handle torsional stresses unlike impact loading. I don't know about this FD build, if that is a tomei motor judging from the blue cover, don't they use a N1 Block?

Just wondering did you notice any defects on your frost plugs?

Like Darious said, the freeze plug just popped out. I thought it was a blown HG because I couldn't see anywhere else it was leaking. It wasn't until I got home that I got a call from the tuner saying he found a freeze plug when cleaning up the dyno.

Not sure why it would be coolant pressure but I have since stepped down to a softer rated radiator cap in an effort to prevent this. Hopefully next time it will blow out the overfill if pressures get too high.

ARP 2000 head studs stretch at about 950rwhp I found out so I'm pretty close to the stretch point anyway. Not sure if I'll hit 1000 unless someone can get me a bomb deal on some L19's.

I was just mentioning to Seth that I wanted to see more updates on the car! Would be great to coax some more power out with stronger studs, eh?

Stronger head studs are a must. I've got a 225 shot of nitrous I've been dying to use too.

I've gotta break something cooler than head studs.

...and I'm saying "I wish I could break my headstuds..." funny world. Just makes me want a bigger turbo that much sooner.
