Simple question want to see how simple of an answer is it? do I have to use the same rb crossmember or build custom mounts? Also I'm not worried that much about the mounts as I am the transmission.. I think the shifter is not goin to be in the right location and I have seen the shifters on a 300 and its at the back.. would I have to make and adaptor or mate the 300 transmission to the rb25 bell housing. plaese give me all the info you can..

Seen an Rb26 done into a Z32 chassis only ONCE and the firewall had to be modified to fit it..HKS made it happen & we all know how much money & resources they have available. I dont think its actually possible for the average Joe to pull off...LOTS of fab work & LOTS of headaches. I would love to see it happen, but why not just mod the stock engine? They are AWESOME and known for big numbers(600HP fairly reliably) I would say save your cash & build on whats there already.

there is a local guy here in nc who did it and that thing barely fits in the engine bay.you thought it was tight in a s chassis its even worse in a z chassis.

*edit*it was in a z31 not a z32 but either way it barely fit.

I can get a non turbo z very cheap I was just thinking about this too see if it could be done with not alot of fab work... But I guess I could just get the twin turbo engine and swap it in.. Thanx all for the replies..

I've seen it done, but the slanted nose might prove a problem with the long eninge.

I mean the VG30 is already packed in.

NOT worth it....its a cute idea but why take out a VG to put in a RB..... is it worth it ?

I would stick with the VG as well. as for the shifter, i know in the z32 there is a linkage to the shifter because of how far back it sits, unlike the RB transmission where the shifter drops right down into the transmission. You would more than likely have to fab up some kind of linkage.

the only reason that i can see that some one would go to a rb25 or 26 is that the vg is a pain in the *** to work on. and i when i mean pain in the *** i mean huge royal pain. the eninge looks like a big square. and the engine bay is perfectly shaped to fit the eninge with no extra room. to do any kind of turbo work pull the eninge. basicly if you want to do any kind of engine work pull it. so an inline 6 would be alot easier to work on.

z31 chassis shouldnt be too bad, just get crossmember and junk needed for a 200zr

Princess Mononoke?

The 200ZR mounts wont work for the RB25 from what I understand.

i can't see the pick. you might try uploading to the members ride section and linking it that way.

On a nother note, and SR20 would go in a Z fairly easy (well not really easy, but it would fit)Weighs less than both and can make good power. I have considered doing this in a 93Z I could get a good deal on.

as cool as that is, the fact that you have to put a big ugly tear drop in your hood ruins the look of the car.

I still think a nice SR20 would be perfect for that car. Just need to find one really cheap.

has anybody tried mating a z32 transmission internals, midsection and rear cover with an rb25 bell housing? Are the bolt pattern anywhere close as to try to mate them? I know some one doing a 91 gloria vg30det into an 88z and to make it a stick he used a z32 bell housing and a z31 internals midsection and rear cover with shifter.

The hood really kills the look. They coulda make something that fit the Z's shape better.

NismoRB, everytime I mention the Z32/SR20, people start screaming blasphemy. But I think it would make a sweet ride. Ive wanted a Z32 since I first saw them at 10 yrs old. But I decided on a S14 cause I couldnt afford to mod a VG (especially the VG-TT).

The biggest argument is that the car is too heavy, etc. But I compared a BPU SR20 dyno to a stock VG30DE dyno, and the SR wasnt lacking too much torque. When I have the skills, time, and money, I'm going for a Z32 with SR20

Or maybe Z32 with a KA-T!!(dont laugh...)

Z32's are sexy. The SR would take a lot of weight out of the car and it has so much potential.

I am just waiting for the price I can't pass up.KA-T would be interesting since it would have more torque.

I am a car guy, I like the right tool for the job and the motor that makes the most since. I love my RB as much as my Rotary, and a SR would just be one more thing to love

does anyone know what wheels those are on the Jun Z32?

They don't quite look right for Professors or Meisters...they almost have an R32 GTR wheel look to them, but deep dish and dual-tone. Whatever they are, I wannn 'em.l

I'll take the car, and I'd make fun of all you guys because you are slower than me. Then the teardrop would be considered a cool thing. Bump the teardrop, bump the looks, I'll take the car and whoop people all day long thank you very much.

True, I wouldnt be embarassed to take her out, but I would feel obligated to show the engine to explain the hood.

Why not just drop an LS1 vette engine into the 300zx. Instead going through all that trouble with the RB..
