Ok guys I know Im new but I have been in many other forums and I know how the "search" button works. I have already searched for RB25 upgrades and I didnt find a lot of good information.

I really looking for good opinions. I am doing an RB25 swap into my 1977 280Z and I want to know what upgrades are recommended first for the motor to get in the 350-400WHP range?

I have a small list of things that I found in searching for this already (GT30R, Injectors, wastegate, Headgasket, head studs, exhaust, turbo header, front mount IC, clutch, Standalone ECU … Then TUNE)

Do you have any other input or what things can I take off the list or add? Money is not a problem I just want to do it the right way and not just put a boost controller on and turn the boost up.

Thanks in advance. (I hope this thread helps others in the future as well)

If you've only found SOME info, then you do not know how the search button works.

lol... thanks for the kind response on my question. I guess if I search "RB25 UPGRADES" I will find a huge list of information.

Sorry man, but I have. If your not looking to help I understand. I just thought I could get a few responses on what some of you guys recommend for upgrades that are running the RB25 set up. The list I listed above is the most info I got from searching on this website.

If that thats cool too...

Thanks,

The cheapest way would be to get a fuel pump, injectors, turbo, and ECU. For 350-400 hp, the stock bottom end and head gasket will be sufficieant. In addition, replacing the head studs would be simple and a good safety factor.

In case you didn't see this thread while searching...zerothread?id=349117

Tools needed to make 400whp:BPUGT30 Turbo (either 71 or easier to obtain with a 76)Injectors (720+cc leaves you with good head room)Tune

Insurance mods, you've mentioned the pretty important ones. Just make sure you look into the oiling system as well if you want to complete it all.

Good luck and let me know if I can help out getting you any of that stuff.

Well, searching aside, one of the best turbo learning tools i found is on Greddy's site. they go over how to pick which and the math involved. Its at http://www.turbobygarrett.com/....htmlthe 101 is very basic, but 103 is very indepth.

For those that would like an easy list this is what I have come up with for hitting 400whp in an RB25:

RB25 Upgrades = 400whp

GT3071R, .82 A/R, T3, with Internal wastegate550cc sidefed DW InjectorsCometic Metal Head GasketARP Head Stud KitSPEC Stage 3 ClutchSPEC Aluminum FlywheelAEM EMS StandaloneISIS Intake ManifoldThen TUNE.

New your looking at about $5,000

Not sure what you can do it for if you can find some used parts, Im sure it would be cheaper as all things are used.

Thanks to those that helped me put a complete list together.

I have said this a billion times, but your wasting your time with a metal HG and quite honestly don't even really need the studs at this point. Put the studs in if you have to pull the head.

Everyone shatters pistons long before blowing headgaskets, this isn't an L28et in that respect.

Otherwise your list looks reasonable. You don't "need" an intake manifold either but I assume that is primarily for looks.

There is a used AEM unit on hybridz I think.. i saw it somewhere at least.

I assume the intake manifold is in there to make piping easier with a FMIC. It is not necessary for 400HP, but if you can afford it, knock yourself out.

Yes, DO NOT install a MHG unless you plan on stripping the block and having it decked. For only 400HP, you'd be retarded to do that. Plus then you're looking at gasket kits and all sorts of other fun stuff associated with rebuilding...

You might even be able to squeeze 400hp thru the stock maf sensor. I can't remember what the internet rumors say about max maf hp, but I'd leave it until it needs to be changed out.
