I haven't tweaked anything with the ignition mapping yet. Whatever came with the Haltech tune was close to my original tune for gas so I left it alone. I would be curious to see how much advance you are running with E85 though. I'll PM you.

Back from the dead! I finally got the video from mid-October uploaded to youtube of the dyno session at Sound Performance in Chicago, IL.

I'm embarrassed to say that my wideband sensor ground wire came loose from a butt connector and we thought it was toast...I didn't find out until I got it home that it was simply loose. Grr. Anyway, not a big deal. I still had to gap down some new spark plugs and bead roll all of my piping. I am hoping to get it back on the dyno in a week or two to shoot for 700 whp.

Sorry I didn't get a plot of the dyno chart. Yes, I know that means it didn't happen :)

Your guess is as good as mine. It was raining when I left the shop and I was literally in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic from their parking lot all the way to my storage garage. I was just hoping to get it home unscathed running drag radials and all.

E85 allows you to run a lot more timing. He added 1 psi of boost and some timing (not sure how much) and it bumped the power 36 whp. Not bad. E85 is like poor man's race gas except more readily available, especially if you live in the midwest.

when i overhaul my setup i plan to tune for e85 myself...i want to drive my car out to CO to visit family but all thats available is 91oct.
e85 however is available at almost all gas stations there.

I was unfamiliar with the Haltech system and how to use the logging feature to actually adjust the fuel map. Now that I have a grasp of it, I'll probably just do tweaking of the map as needed. And of course, I'll let SP keep tuning the high end until the injectors are maxed out.

17* @ 18 psi seems a little low even for pump gas. I haven't looked at the map since I had it tuned to compare against what it originally was. I'll have to check and get back to you.

pretty good numbers for the amount of boost! definitely better than 93 oct would yield i'd say.

do you test the e85 before filling it into your tank? I know some e85ers around here pump some to test the eth content before filling up with it. how are the prices per gallon where you live? around here the prices are almost the same as 93 now last I checked, maybe 10-20c less than 93 per gallon. With the added fuel consumption and limited availability at tracks, it's hard for me to justify. i do like the gains i see though.

In downtown Chicago, regular gas is hovering around $4.40-4.70 per gallon and E85 is around $3.30. Away from downtown it is considerably less. I think I was paying $2.85 in Iowa. The trouble I had with pump gas in Iowa, when I made the conversion, was that there isn't any 93 available unless it is an ethanol blend. I didn't really have a choice because 91 wasn't going to get me anywhere (fast).

You are correct in that I don't know what the true ethanol content is on my current setup. But I'm planning to add an ethanol sensor this winter and tuning a separate trim for varying E content.

yeah your not the first person to say that.. however it didnt seem to want much more.. im sure it would have take another degree or so... but for what 5whp? not worth it imo it was gaining over 10-12whp per degree.. ( i had it at 15 prior to being on the dyno) then it dropped to like a 4 whp gain per degree

@rrrrb: crazy that it didnt want more timing...most rb's i come across are timing hogs.
whats your current setup?

@Dairus have you looked into haltec's inline EtOH sensor? Not sure if your unit supports it but having it autoscale for fueling is quite nice.

Carl ill pm you.. don't wanna jack the thread..

I've been wondering about that sensor myself boost fuel and ignition corrctions based on ethanol content is legit

I don't like the layout of the GM sensor. Inlet and outlet in the same direction? WTF is that?! Please post a link to where I can get a GM one for $80. I haven't seen one for less than $170+SH on ebay.

And RRRB, start a new thread to talk about ethanol trimming. I think it is something that a lot of guys could benefit from after switching to E85.

you dont want the old in/out on the same side sensor as they're failure prone...

Went back to Sound Performance after replacing my wideband sensor and bead rolling the intercooler piping. It put down 664 hp and 568 ft-lbs @ 28 psi. Not bad!

Pretty sweet man... thats awesome torque... got a graph?

I'm curious what this thing would do on a dynojet..

Do you know If this dyno reads low like most mustang dynos?

We have a mustang dyno local to me that reads within a few horsepower of a dynojet, its weird, only mustang dyno I've seen do that.

You how much injector you got left?

Get a chance to beat it, how's it feel?

Oh he let it run to redline as long as the AFRs were keeping up! I'll post dyno plots when I get a chance. BTW, wtf happened to photobucket.com?
