You can buy a chemical kit that sucks the air out of the radiator to see if the headgasket is blown.

ok check list

OIL COOLER INSTALLED? stock or aftermarket.

BLEED coolant air bubbles by raising car to highest point (front end) then run engine with rad cap off and fill till it's full. Let temps come up to normal and watch for fluid movement and bubbles.

Get back to us asap!

Ohh and are your fans wired correctly and are the blades in the right direction?

Let me guess. Ebay fans?

And running a 145F thermostat is retarded, literally. The ECU is going to be pulling timing even when the thermostat is fully open and at "normal" operating temp. Get the right thermstat in there (~175F).

The bleeder bolt is a 10mm bolt head right above the fuel pressure regulator if you have the stock intake manifold. It has a small rubber coolant line running to the bottom of it. It is on a goofy looking metal part that has one 10mm bolt holding it onto the intake manifold.

As far as the puller fans go, are they shrouded up close to the radiator? If not, the easiest path is to suck air from between the radiator and front of the fan housing and not draw it thru the radiator itself. Like has been said 50,0000,000 times before ducting is essential for these motors.

darius... thanks alot man. yeah there up perty tight... the fans anyway. but idk what im doing wrong still seems to overheat and i thought i had it but i raced a gt stang tonight and it overheated... i have a laser temp pointer and was taking temps of random stuff in my motor bay, and my turbo reads about 750-980 degrees F. is that right?? i cant believe it would be. but Darius you live in ames thats only bout a hour drive from where i live... you think sometime you might be able to come down and help me out.. these motors are complicated.

The turbo temps are normal.

It seems odd to me that it is overheating when the fans seem to be set up properly and are drawing a lot of amperage. Do you have a pic you can post of the setup and show how close the fans are to the radiator? The only other thing I can think of is that the thermostat is not opening up once the engine gets to operating temp.

For a point of reference, I ran mine on the S14 radiator with crappy pusher fans for a year and it still wouldn't overheat until the outside temps got above 80. There must be something drastically wrong with the system for it to overheat with pullers on a 70 degree day.

I can make a trip down any time during the week for $20 and a case of beer

do you still have the stock rb thermal transmitter in the rb head with the s13 gauge cluster?if so it will look like its overheating when its not.

ha.. idk bout the case of beer.. im only 17. but i got someone who could get me a 24 pack...yeah im useing the stock s13 cluster but the temp reads about 185 idle wit the fans not on then when i turn them on it drops to about 160 and goes down to 150 or so. when i run the car and boost it it climbs right bac up with my fans on.

i know that the fans are up tight because you can feel the air being puller through the radiator. i can get a pic sometime today, but im not sure how to post them...

are the fans mounted on the engine side or in front of the radiator and how are they setup(pusher or pullers)? You say that you can fell the air pulling through the rad. If the fans are mounted in front of the radiator they should be pushing air threw it not pulling. How do you know the headgasket is fine? if it only overheats when you are boosting then it could still be a bad headgasket.

mounted on engine side if u would read up.. it says there pullers.. Compression tests, and no anitfreeze in oil, no oil in antifreeze. its not burning out the exhaust either.. and its not burning white that would be a simple sign of cracked block..so im stumped.. i herd that rbs were hell getting air pockets out so thats the only thing i can think of..

Is your heater blowing hot air?

When you're driving, i am assuming you're not using the stock gauge cluster to see what your temps are, its very inaccurate. There are 3 temp readings on a stock cluster, Cold as hell, Somewhat Normal and f***ed.

Yeah.. my heater is blowing hot air.. and as i let my car warm up it gets hotter. yeah im useing my stock cluster, but i noticed that it dont read properly. so i used either a cooking thermometer, lol i kno. or a laser pointer that takes tempatures.

I know it sounds silly, but make sure you do not have an indication problem!

Using a simple thermometer and hot water in a cup. Submerge your sensor in and take a look at what your gage is indicating. This is different type sensor, but you get the point.

Otherwise, it sounds like you have tried about everything else. I would have to say you have an air bubble and the water is not circulating properly.

Ok i'm totally digging this cause i suck at getting air bubbles out. What do you guys think? Could solve all our problems.
