Sorry to bring this up again, I've searched but wasn't able to find a conclusive answer.

I'm looking at getting RB20 coil packs to replace my broken CA18 ones. The RB20 ones that I'm looking at have the part number 22433-60U01.

I only have photos of them atm. The connector is different, but it looks like a SR20 connector will fit, can someone please confirm this? I have a SR20 coil pack harness which I can use.

Also I presume that mounting hole and boot height wise they will fit as I've read that the eariler RB20 coils are a drop-in replacment for the CA. I think these RB20 coils that I'm looking at might be a later revision where the connector's been changed.

OK looks like someone has done it before:

and if you want to check a coil pack....easiest way, would be to just swap No 1 and 2 coil packs around....and see if the problem moves with the coil pack, or if it is always No 1 cyl that isn't fireing.

and yeah, you can also use RB20 coil packs too.thats what I'm using in mine atm.....just gotta change the plugs on the end for the 3 little wires.

So the above mentioned plugs just need to be changed to the SR ones? Meaning I can just use the SR coil pack harness that I've got as I know that the six pin plug on the non-coil end will plug into the CA efi harness.

I will of course check the pins just to make sure that they're right

Well it looks like Nissan has 2 types of 3 pin coil pack connectors with the same shape but different locating tab location

and

Nissan 3-pin TPS/COIL Connector (SR20/RB25/RB26/RB20)

I'm quite sure that the RB20 ones that I'm getting will need the brown connector above. I will be getting the RB20 coils complete with the coilpack harness anyway, so I can splice the correct connectors onto my CA coilpack harness.

But the above info might be useful to someone who is looking to use RB20 coils on the CA and wondering about which connector will fit.

Just an Update:

I recieved the RB20 ignition coils (P/N 22433-60U01) and they fit on to the coil pack mountings on the CA18det head just like the original ones should.

Connector wise, I re-used a redtop SR20det ign coil harness that I had lying around. I had to break off the locating tabs on the RB coils to allow the Sr20 connector to fit, the connector clip still keeps it secure on the coil and there is no negative impact. As mentioned a few posts above, the connector shapes are the same, just that the locating tabs are in a different place

The car runs well now and the my previous misfiring issue (see below) has been solved. :woot:
