Not to bash on the guys whove got the swap done, but WTF are with these gimptacular times?

An s13 allegedly weighing in at 2700, more or less, than the 200+ from the rb25 swap bringing it up to 2900, is about 200-300 less than a 1g AWD.

T28 for the rb25 vs the 1g AWDs 14b is about comparable, similiarly sized turbos, fuel however, the rb's got it beat hands down with 6*370 vs 4*450, not to mention the extra .5 displacement, jesus wtf are they so slow for. A 1g AWD with similiar mods to those listed above, is usually doing 106-108 traps, and thats in a heavier car, with more power loss to the awd trans.

*Note: Also, there are people who run 112+ mph traps with RB25s. Im tryin to think of his name, but he had a 60-1 and a FMIC, plus BPU stuff. I think he went like 12.5 at 115 or something like that with an rb25 in a s13.If your gonna upgrade the turbo WHY o WHY put a 16g on it, you have a manifold that stock has a t3 flange on it. 16g would get eaten alive by t3/t4 with a 50 trim or bigger, on a decent turbine housing.*I dunno wtf is up with the guys rides with the rb25det swaps but this is just lame.. really makes me see no point in the swap for another project car thats just going to be underpowered from a roll much less dead stop against a 1g awd with just a few bolt ons.

If someone could enlighten me as to why a few bolt ons on an rb25det swapped s13 isnt trapping 110-112, please do so, id love to know, as my current plan was to get one and make an adapter plate to toss a nice cheap 16g on it.

...Coming from the DSM communitiy (read name), and a VERY modded DSM....You have to understand something first about DSMs those damn things are freaks. The 4G63 flows insane numbers...

Beyond that, the s13 weighs yes under 2700 and with an rb20, yea probably a little under 2900 if you keep everything... you can get that down a lot.

The biggest problem I would say with the RB is the fact that (as some have said before) the turbo in these things just sucks. I would agree a 14b is actually alot better turbo. In most cases you cant boost the stocker past 10-12 psi or it will eat itself alive. HOWEVER, do realize that at 10 psi on the stock rb25 people will routinely put down over 250 horse to the wheels. Now realize what that 250whp you will run mid 13s with a <2900 pound RWD car, at over 105 mph... at 10 psi, on the stock turbo :)There simply aren't that many people on this board that put on large turbos and the RBs. In general the RB swaps are a new thing to the U.S, just give the motor some time (more like give the tuners some time :) ).

I think later on when alot of people on here get their cars and/or setups together the RB should really show its potential.

My RB25 put down 230 WHP at 10 PSI with stock Turbo, IC and ECU. With an FMIC and some tuning 250 is very reasoundable. I went 13.8 @ 104 with 230 WHP.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST GET A HIGHER FLOWING TURBO AND BOOST LESS? IF A TURBO PUSHES 3 TIMES THE AIR OF THE STOCK TURBO THATS ABOUT AS MUCH POWER AT STOCK BOOST AS A STOCK TURBO WITH 3PSI MORE BOOST.

I don't know if you have seen the intake ports for a RB20-25 head. The 1G head ports are way bigger, I would dare to say almost as big as a 26 last time I saw the gaskets. Any of the RB25 guys use slicks?
