I Wanted To Know If Anybody Has Any Specs (As In Price Wise) On How Much It Would Cost To Swap A Rb25/6 Into A Z33 And Their Outlook On The Idea

Thanks In Advance

You can cut down the drama and labor costs by 80% if you just stick with a built and boosted VQ, I think it would be an awesome swao though if you have the means to support a project of that size.

Some kid had his done over at lethal performance in GA, as for the an estimation on the figures it would take to do an endeavor like this..I wouldn't even know, if you go through the thread I'm sure you can some come up with your own estimation just by seeing what needs to be done.

The RB isn't too common of an engine swap for the Z33, the GM ls and Nissan vk swaps are bit more popular.

I've got to agree with Soup.

Unless you've just got a spare beast of an RB (or equally functional monster engine) sitting around collecting dust there's no reason to change out the perfectly good engine in the Z. If I were to swap out my VQ for anything it would be an LS. In the long run it might be marginally cheaper to make big power with the LS, but there are a host of top notch parts out for the VQ from Brian Crower, Cosworth, Jim Wolf and Tomei so you can focus on what you've got instead of having to go with an entirely new powerplant. You can have just about as much fun with a built vq than with an RB ;)

An RB would be cool as hell though at a car show with the hood propped.

I'm sorry but nothing comes close to the RB. The VQ sounds good to a point but as soon as you turbo it, you lose the VQ sound. Nothing comes close the the sounds and performance that you get from a RB. I'm getting really close to doing the swap right now. I have a R34 RB26 just waiting to be dropped in. Iam waiting on CMS fabrications to release their Rb26dett motor mount and transmission mount kit for the 350z next week. The kit will be under a $1000 and they are also providing a Wiring harness. So things are coming around for the swap. Iam going to get this kit as soon as it comes out. You can put it in alot easier then you think. The whole front clip of the Z comes off unlike the 240sx. So this will be a plug and play kit. Iam not a big fan of the VQ or a VQ TT at all. Here is a little price list i came up with when doing a RB swap vs the built VQ

450 HP to 500+ HP RB:

Motor: $3600
RB25 trans: $1000
Motor mounts: $850
Custom drive shaft: $450
Wiring harness: $500
custom intercooler: $500
t3/t4 turbo: $800
Intake kit: $400
Manifold: $450
Tune: $550
Custom down pipe: $300
Clutch: $450
Gauges: $150
Fuel system upgrade: $500
Injectors: $400
Exhaust: $700

Total: $11,600

Built 450 hp to 500+ hp VQ:

Full Turbo kit: $6000
Upgraded internals: $2000
Machine shop work: $1500
Clutch: $450
Gauges: $150
Injectors: $550
Fuel pump $150
Tune: $550
Exhaust: $700

Total: $12,050

So that's a nice little round about number for both. Give or take a few things, but that's kinda close to what you are looking at. Its really up to you but i think the VQ is a soccer mom car kinda motor and the RB is a race ready motor. Now if you have emissions in your state (witch i don't) then don't do it unless you are just using it for track use only. This will be my weekend driver maybe a DD.

You're a little late to the party, not only did you bump a thread that died back in February but you missed a more recent thread in General Chat.

350Z RB26 Swap
