a vertical mill will do you almost no good on a intake mani.... trust me... all it can do is cut the TB flange and cut the holse for the stacks to fit in...Cleveland180 wrote:For those of you saying its not a market worth delving into, have no worries, If I find that I would be able to buy a vertical mill (used) and have the cost of the manifolds sold covered it would be worth it to me. .
...and also drill and tap the holes used for any vacuum lines, Air Controllers and machine the surface finish needed for a proper seal on all the gasket surfaces. A 3 axis mill would be more than capable of machining an intake manifold.RBTALLY wrote:

I've been selling parts for a while now. There is always a market, but, just so happens in this economy right now the market is slow. But, at some point it will get better. The problem is...who knows when it will turn around?Shocker wrote:I think the market is really in the tank for a lot of these parts. Look at myself, I've had an awesome manifold for sale for like 2 months now, selling it for almost half its cost and its hardly used. Still in my basement collecting dust.
I really don't feel the market is there for these engines in the states.
yes these are all things my 4axis cnc mill can do but it is not cost efective to use a $50,000 cnc mill for a drill press. are you going to cut this thing out of a billet? if you have it sand casted then you can use a cnc mill to clean it up and do the flanges if you want a mill just buy one .. but you will not pay for a mill with this dream project... sorry.Cleveland180 wrote:

But I am not trying to argue opinions on what a machine can do or not, just trying to get a feel for the market.
Thanks to everyone who has voted so far!we are currently pricing things out to see what it would really cost to get the space and machines to do the work!
Change your poll to include composite intakes and Ill vote. Nothing up there appeals to me.Cleveland180 wrote:^ thats what it is starting to sound like.. I was planning on trying to get a used mill from a machine shop going under. but even still it seems like the market just isn't here for them. It's starting to look grim, especially since i have only gotten what 20 votes....
