please be more descriptive. is it plastic sounding, metal sounding? like keys, what speeds does it appear at? how loud is it?spartan67 wrote:have a rattle coming from the back of my rogue, sounds like it is in the rear door, driving me crazy, help
can you tell me how loud it is?spartan67 wrote:basically when going over rough roads,or a bump, not metallic, more like a rubbing together noise, sounds like it is coming from the center of the door
park your car, and open the back door. jiggle the seat (the back portion) see if thats the noisespartan67 wrote:mine is at any speed, just going over rough surfaces, drives me crazy, not a constant noise but enough to make you nuts, had aFord Escape that did the same thing, never could find the cause, must had rags and carboard in every little crack, figured getting the Rogue that this would never happen again. Guess not, I know if I take it the Dealer that it won't happen with them. Just hoped that there would be someone else on here that was having or had the same problem. Guess I'll ride in the back with someone esle drivingv and try to narrow it down
check the tire jack and associated tools near the spare tires, make sure the spare is tightened down...maybe even take everything out and see if the rattle is still therespartan67 wrote:have a rattle coming from the back of my rogue, sounds like it is in the rear door, driving me crazy, help
GREAT POST. you took the words right out of my mouth.harryg wrote:1. check the tire jack and associated tools near the spare tires, make sure the spare is tightened down...maybe even take everything out and see if the rattle is still therespartan67 wrote:have a rattle coming from the back of my rogue, sounds like it is in the rear door, driving me crazy, help
2. if your rogue has a pop-up tray organizer check to see that it is properly tightened(4 plastic nuts on each corner).
3. Also in the 2 little cubby holes in the trunk corners, where your wheel lock key is, check to see if that is properly secure and not rolling around/vibrating.
4. As well as I believe the hatch has these little rubber bumper stops, try adjusting those to see if there is too much play with the hatch closing.
go to any auto parts store and buy this stuff:Tony78 wrote: I see ImStricken made gaskets all around. Could you explain that a bit more please?

I just read this idea and I really like it. I might try it next time I have any squeeks. Do you notice any staining on the plastic surface or do you only use it on hidden areas?ImStricken wrote:go to any auto parts store and buy this stuff:Tony78 wrote: I see ImStricken made gaskets all around. and simply apply a small line between any two plastics that make contact. (plastic on plastic, or plastic on metal). this stuff dries to a rubber cement like structure. removable by pealing like a sticker, yet firm to allow two parts to not make contact. great stuff.
FIY: this oil on your center console too!:

i only used it between any two pieces of plastic that mate together. and i dont think this would stain the plastic anyway. its nothing more than high temp rubber cement. once dried, it just peals up/off if need be. this stuff is great to keep plastics from tapping, rattling, scratching, etc.TrevorK wrote:I just read this idea and I really like it. welcome to the forum!!Rogue210 wrote:I have a 2011 Rogue that had a rattle for months in the rear hatch. I would sound like a combination of squeak and ringing sound (sounded like an oversized steel washer rolling around loosely on bolt). It was very loud but after parking I would always forget about it until driving it the next time. Finally the weather improved and I gave it the complete once over. Took off what I could but it was still very difficult to determine where the sound was coming from by pounding with fist in various places.
While trying to figure how to remove the main plastic cover I noticed up near the window on the passenger side there was a 1/8 inch gap between the plastic and metal. I could see two clips through the gap and was actually trying to release them but couldn't. So Instead I pounded the plastic with my palm and it clicked into place (both places).
The noise has went away completely and it is heaven. Unbelievable that all it took was snapping the trim back in place.
There is a design problem with the lock. When you open the hatch and poke the lock mechanism (as if the hatch is locked), you can feel it wiggles 2-3 mm after it is in the locked position.ARFADAY wrote: (Rear door lock)
