CCCampbel1,

I don't blame you switching since repairs on these things will cost you your first born. I goggled the part number and I got 55705-CM40A, pretty much the same but not sure what it means after the 55705. I wonder if it's the same.

The dealer said the motor is gone so I don't need to buy the sub frame with it. You're right it's cost around $500 on ebay and it looks like it's in good shape.

What I get is a SLIP, VDC and RAS light on the dash. The strange thing is that my cruise works. So hopefully the dealership is right and the RAS motor is reason it's giving me those errors.

Or South Florida, I just purchased the part on EBay for $295.00 shipping included it is used and comes out of a 2006 M35 I will keep everyone posted once it arrives. I am now shopping for repacement exhaust pipes and mufflers as I was told those are rusted through.

CCCampbell1:

I had found something on this website that implied that the brake fluid levels and brake pad condition could cause those same lights to come on. I would check that out before spending big dollars on the RAS motor.
I have those same lights on on my 2006 M45 Sport but my cruise control does not work at all. The dealer diagnosed the system (at a cost of $130.00) and told me it was the laser sensor mounted in the front bumper. I replaced that sensor but it did not clear the problem. I had my non-dealer mechanic do further diagnosis and he found that the RAS Actuator motor was frozen. The dealer wanted $2743.00 for the part. I found it on EBay last night for $295.00 and ordered it. I will post the results when I receive the part and have it installed. By the way the dealer wanted over $2,400.00 to replace the laser sensor (which was not defective) I was able to find one on EBay for $135.00 which I have now returned. I have lost complete faith in my dealers service abilities.

Nice find on the motor!
You dont need OEM exhaust, the most popular aftermarket exhaust stuff for our car is Megan, but it is always out of stock. You can get some Tanabe, Stillen, HKS, etc. brand mufflers and other exhaust parts. Or you can just get some custom stuff done. Just go to just about any muffler shop or performance tuning shop and they can do the work for you.
