Fuel pumps run very hot, they use the fuel they are pumping for cooling and lubrication, when there is no fuel, they tend to eat themselves, you most likely need a new pump. I would also recomend replacing the fuel filter, when a pump fails, they tend to send plastic shavings through the fuel system.

well replaced my fuel pump and filter and still wont start and theres still like a quatar tank of gas in there and all it does is sound like it wasnt to start. But now when i try and start it , theres some liquid comming out from the exhaust manifold where it bolts up to the block. its like little drops just squirts out.

Are you into replacing parts before properly diagnosing a problem first?

well, touch the liquid..what is it? oil? gas?

Before you go replacing a head gasket, you need to do a compression test first.

ok, now we can say with certainty that you need the head gasket.

wow so running out of gas blows your headgasket? next time i will think twice before relieving the fuel pressure....

have you checked you fuel pump fuse?

engine bay next to battery. look at the fuse layout on the cover to find it.

also to do a compression test, go to autozone or you fav auto parts store and ask a sales person to give you a tester. it's just a gauge that screws into you head instead of a spark plug.

Did you fail to read the part where he states that he has coolant leaking from the head area?

If I ever have coolant spilling out from the head I'll be sure to check the fuel pump fuse, as you suggested.

I did not fail to read the part about a leaky headgasket...thats why i stated it in my last response. Obviously as he told us his car started having problem after he ran out of gas... so now he's trying to get it started.

just trying to suggest what to check.

and headgaskets leak all the time...he just stumbled on his while trying to solve another problem.

read the posts in order buddy.

ok let me rephrase this. lol I ran out of gas and it would not start. So i got pushed to the gas station and put 10 bucks of gas in the car and it wont start. So after that i towed it home and started to look at what was going on. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter andthe fuse. And still no start. every time I try to start it, it wont turn over. I try and try again and nothing. I heard like a bubbling sound underneth the car and took a look and i see coolant drop;ets comming from the welds on the exhaust. So now i move in to the engine bay and see that the exhaust manifold is covered in gas and now its squirting from ehere the head meets up to the block. I got a small vid of it. here look at this.

If you can read in order, you would see that I suggested above for him to do a compression test before replacing the head gasket. Then if you pay close attention (I know it may be a daunting task) you would then see him state that coolant is comming out of the head, that's when I suggested the head gasket. Makes sense? (probably not). Anyways, I'm not going to keep going back and forth with you. As they say, if you know better, do better..so I take my leave of this thread.

The thing is, is that his car was running 100 percent before he ran out of gas. The headgasket is not the cause of his current problems. Granted, he may have a leaking HG, but it obviously wasnt stopping his car from running.

Are you sure your car is getting fuel? You might have hooked up the new fuel pump wrong. Make sure fuel is getting to your fuel rail, and that you have pressure. An easy way to do this is to take off the feed line to the fuel rail and stick the hose in a bottle. Turn the car to the on position, you should hear your fuel pump work. Then check your bottle to see if gas is in it.

EDIT - Oh wow i just checked that video out, lol how the FK did you blow your HG from running out of gas? This thread makes no sense lol.

OP- Thats not gas thats squirting out its obviously green, and coolant. You need a new HG.. Its not a simple task, make sure you know what your doing before you try to do it yourself. You can mess stuff up pretty ez.
