lightweight-crank-pulleys-g25-g35-g37-3 ... 39570.html

First up. Just wanted to let all of the M guys know, we've got mods for you! I have lightweight crankshaft pulleys for the M35, M35 Hybrid and M37. Check out the thread. They're gorgeous. Greg has a staff member reviewing one in the near future.

And on to the M45 guys. I've started a group buy on one of the crossover forums for the VK45 guys. If you guys are interested, I can include you on the group buy interest list. I need to know who is seriously interested in this part. As soon as I have specs and pricing, I'll post it on the forum, then see who wants to leave a deposit. The higher the number of orders, the better the price.

Here are some pix of the 35/37 pulleys:

I'm aiming high at a $225 price point for a short list GB. If we can get at least 20 serious buyers, I'm sure we can get an awesome price for you guys. Awesome = a lot better than $225.

To be honest with you with the lack of mods for M45s this mod would be a waste for me at that price. 160 like on other post would be what I would be willing to spend on it

You know that UR's list price on a G37 pulley is $254? And that's for a pulley that's about 30% heavier than ours...

I don't plan on selling these at $225, but if the group buy is too small, I can't offer quantity discounts. The $160 is an early adopter, forum member special...

I'm not sure how the lack of mods for the M45 has anything to do with this being a waste... If we can get enough momentum on these, I'm sure we can cook up some other goodies for the Y50 and S50 guys.

Well I think it should be lighter (comparing to OEM) enough to give you some power to the wheels. I think that size of the pulley should be the same as OEM so we can use OEM belts.

Each lb counts ;)

I had this awesome reply, then slacker hijacked my browser and killed it.

The short and sweet version is this:

Our pulleys are significantly lighter than stock while maintaining OEM diameter. A lightweight crank pulley like a lightweight flywheel or forged wheels allows more power/torque to be applied to the pavement instead of used in angular momentum. Basic Benefits:

Faster revving engine: This goes beyond HP and TQ and deals with how fast the engine can accelerate which leads you to faster acceleration.

Throttle response, an engine that moves faster will feel more responsive.

HP/TQ - This isn't creating power, it's allowing it to be applied. Basically lowered parasitic losses. Less drivetrain losses.

POTENTIAL for increased fuel economy in the city. This is probably negligible, but it can improve things in theory. On the freeway, this won't do much. In the city with constant acceleration changes, it should help.

I'll answer any questions and post up something better tomorrow or over the weekend.

How hard of a swap is this?

Same as changing the belts with just the added step of unscrewing the pulleys (are you selling one or two for $225?) and replacing?

It's about 45-60 mins of time to install. You'll need an impact wrench or possibly a cheater bar. I'd have to look at the FSM for the VK to verify where it is exactly in reference to wheels. I talked to Tony, he said no higher than $200 for this. Possibly lower if we can get a large enough group buy.

It's just the crank pulley.

For the time being, this product is not being offered. There were some serious manufacturing hurdles to overcome and one of RAM's founders is no longer available to run the company. I have started a new brand "Fat Stance" that will be absorbing the grounding kit line and may roll out other products if a demand is presented. To be kept up to date, search for "Fat Stance - Fender Rolling" on Facebook. Currently, only the fender rolling service is posted, but other products and a store will be put up in the coming weeks/months.
