$50 bucks in gas$200 for an attorney ( a dumb one if he is willing to use the radar detector defense )$200 (conservatively) for a day off work

You will end up spending $450 to drive to Oklahoma and lose a case and still have to pay a $200 fine. That is $650 if you don't find a sympathetic judge.

Traffic school might cost you a few nights on-line and $125.

You stated you were doing 5 miles over the limit. They have signs all over OK stating 70- "No Tolerance". Even if they didn't, you admit you were speeding. Why spend $650 on a ticket you deserve (even if you weren't doing 85- who gives a sh*t) when you can spend less than a 1/3 of that? With traffic school it won't even go on your record.

I have a V-1 too. It isn't perfect. I don't know how to calibrate it. I doubt you do either. What are you going to do if, after you ask them to demonstrate their unit was calibrated, they ask you to do the same thing? You got blasted by instant-on. V1's web site talks about this. It is a risk. That office has no obligation to show you anything other than a badge number. Radar detectors don't prevent tickets and aren't a good defense in court. I think you are being silly and making a big mistake out of a little ticket. Even if you win the case, you lose $450. The problem is, you will likely lose. ...although you might get lucky.

Hope it works out for you.

LOL - a friend's boss shot the king video (he still regrets releasing it after the media cut it down to what the public saw) - after seeing the unedited version which included king tackeling an officer on to the hood of a car while being tazed, while still acknowledging excessive force was used - I'm not sure how I would have voted if on a jury for the cops trial.

While I acknowledge that officers have a tough job to do, and I work for the Department of Corrections, I still get pissed when cops are used to set up speed traps for the purpose of generating revenue. It is really offensive to me that you can't get the local PD to respond when you have a drug dealer dealing in your neiborhood or they don't even try to find out who broke into your house and stole your stuff but the second someone is speeding they are there to extract cash from your bank account and as often as not have an extra car or two show up while they write your ticket.

To be fair I may be a little more slanted to the anti cop point of view as I currently have a court date to fight a ticket that CHP supposedly wrote me a little over a year ago - I wasn't there and as of yet they can't provide me with copies of the ticket but they assure me that they will have the information available before court. after receiving a notice from the court that I owe $560 for the ticket I never got I called the court and they asked me for my DL # and they said it matched they asked me if I owned a Lexus - nope - were you driving one - nope - only time I drove one was about 4 mos ago when I was car shopping - well the DL # and name matches. My guess is if I don't have a recipt showing I was somewhere else in the country close to that time the judge will choose to belive the officer over me.

Check it out.. if you own a sports car you probably like to SPEED!! if you like to SPEED, then you will get tickets and one day you may get a cop that's a bit of a d!ck..Like your boss or buddy or your mailman etc. Most of them are good guys doing a tuff job. A traffic stop is scary for everyone whether your kid's not in a car seat or you have a trunk full of drugs!!. I got nailed at 86mph the other day in my durango.. i told my wife glad he didn't get us in the G doing 120 or 130!!! Only thing that sucks is that in N.C. over 80mph you must appear. Every dam state is different. Anyway if you PLAY YOU GOT TO PAY!!!

I suppose you are correct. I suppose this has all gotten out of hand. To be truthful I knew better than to post this question anyway because I fully expected for someone to take it to the point of no return and then name calling starts and such. (Granted I did call the cop that pulled me over a prick so I guess I fired off the first name calling bit but I still think he was a prick....I guess you would have just had to have been there to understand).

Long gone are the days when you could ask one simple question on here and get one simple answer. I think after seven years on here the time has come to part ways. I plan to sell the G in the next couple of months anyway in favor of an '09 FX when they come out and have found another site for FX owners.

Sorry to all for the bitching above. I am not the best communicator when it comes to trying to get my point across sometimes and clearly I failed yet again.

I am not sure how to remove yourself from this site so if there is a moderator that could shut me down or delete my profile I would appreciate.

To those of you I have gotten to know over the years thanks for all of the great advice. This is been a very resourceful place. Best wishes to you all. Even RED_DET

J, it's the Internet. You need to divide the negative by 2, and the positive by 4. You need to overlook the posts that you disagree with in favor of the ones you agree with. A lot of this is because you can't judge the post based on its words, IE, you really don't know how it's intended.

NICO has grown, to just under 100,000 members at this time. It is one of the most active, with the most diverse group of opinions. Sometimes you get flamed, sometimes you're a hero. But it's the Internet. You can't take it too seriously.

You'll find few sites as lenient as this one, but you'll have to find out for yourself.

Oh, mods/admins won't delete your account. Just don't log in if you don't want to be here.

Enjoy your new FX.

For those of you who think cops have a bad attitude perhaps it's time to see life the way they have to. I don't know how many of these scenes I'd have to respond to until I hardened and because a little callous. The ride home from a wedding, in a limo, turns tragic for a family...
CNN wrote: On the ride home, the limo was struck head-on by a drunk driver. Police reports indicate the driver, 24-year-old Martin Heidgen, had at least 14 drinks, and his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit. Police say he was driving 70 miles an hour down the wrong side of a major highway for at least two miles before he crashed into the limousine.

An off-duty security officer returning home from work was first on the scene. "I approached the limo driver, and I guess I went into shock," says New York State court officer Michael Lerardi. "It looked like an explosion. The motor, basically, was just sitting on top of him. I knew he was dead." The limo driver, 59-year-old Stanley Rabinowitz, was killed instantly.

Next to arrive was Lt. Michael Tangney, the bride's uncle, who had attended the wedding just hours before. "I was walking to the rear of the limousine when a gentleman was coming away from it, and he said, 'Don't go back there. It's bad,'" Lt. Tangney says. "I opened the rear door to the limousine and realized it was my family."

Lt. Tangney's brother -- Jennifer's father, Chris -- was lying on the floor, his legs wrapped around the service bar, broken in numerous places. The rest of the family was piled on top of each other. Jennifer's mother, Denise, was severely injured, as was Jennifer's husband, Neil, who tried to crawl out of the limo to get help despite his broken back.

Five-year-old Grace was also trapped inside the wreckage. Jennifer, whose foot was injured, managed to climb out and was searching for Katie, who had been lying on the side seat before the crash. "We couldn't find Kate," Lt. Tangney says. Then, Jennifer made a devastating discovery --Katie had been decapitated by her seat belt.

"Then all of a sudden Mrs. Flynn came out of the car with her child's head in her hand," says Michael Lerardi, one of the 70 paramedics and police officers who were called to the scene.

"I got numb. I thought I was going to collapse," says Officer Christopher Pandolfo. "I looked into the back of the limousine, and I saw Katie's remains. She was wearing this dress, and I just started shaking."

Jennifer walked to side of the road and sat for about an hour with her daughter's head on her lap as she watched her family being cut out of the limousine. Lt. Tangney had to tell his niece it was time to leave. "She very lucidly, very calmly said she wasn't going anywhere. She wasn't leaving Kate," he says. "I climbed into the ambulance, and I told Jennifer that she'd have to come inside now because Grace needed her, and she said she's not going to let go of Kate. And I asked her if she would give her to me, and at that point she turned her over, kissed her goodbye and handed her to me."
Don't drink and drive. Please.

There is no issue with bringing things up for discussion. This is a discussion forum and a community. The problem comes in when it is a general b1tch fest towards one profession in which we have members who are in that profession. Just like you may have a crappy waitress at a restaurant you can also have a crappy cop during a traffic stop. It happens and there is nothing any of us can do about it. Hell, after watching "speeders" and the other cops shows I have no idea how they are even cordial to anybody.

I don't have anything against cops. I hate when people say they hate the police and you ask them why and they say "What have they done for me" and they barely have run ins with them. I know you guys have a tough job, I've talked with them for hours about random stuff. All of them were cool dudes if I may. I have a couple of friends who are in it and I've talked to University police for hours here...not too often would you imagine a University officer and a student talking about things that have been going on or just random stuff for 2 hours, never before knowing each other. I just think that some how, given my scenario, that a "sense" of credibility could be restored somehow, for me at least. Not that there's credibility lost, but just the idea. Like having all guns print out a receipt for you with a "Thank you, you were served by Officer __ at such and such a time." Ooo would that piss some people off haha. But you get my drift. Not everyone is good at visually determining speed either.

J-Owner, don't leave..........

Brandon,

If you leave this site, I will drive down and over to Bumpkinville, TX where you are at and whoop your butt.

You can't take anything to heart, especially on the internet. I have a tough time reminding myself that, but I gotten alot better about it. I really try to ignore most comments, whether on the internet or in real life. But sometimes that one will get under my skin for a moment and I must say something.

Now by no means do I think you are an idiot. I'm sure you are a highly educated person, but at this time yesterday I'm sure you were pissed off at the experience you had encountered and then got hammered a bit by me on here. No reason to leave though, thats for damn sure. If I left every time somebody pissed in my cheerios, I would have to sell all my computers.

Stick around bro, like I said, you may just like me.

If you wanna talk more, my email address is in my profile.

Bad 'ole cop, I didn't do it, etc etc etc. Get over it and be lucky it's just a traffic ticket instead of getting caught doing something REALLY stupid that causes you to lose your license and crap. Just be lucky you didn't get caught on those occasions that we all have.

Boys, this is getting old. Instead of bitching at our "local" cop why don't you instead discuss issues to get his viewpoint on workings and potentially what to do/not do during a stop and how to address issues instead.

Sorry, but I have yet received a ticket I did not deserve and I have been let go without a ticket as well. It's life, get beyond it.
Because our "local cop" has been anything but helpful in this situation. Actually unprofessional as far a staff go.

If you have a ***** waitress, the worst that can happen is you get food poisoning.

An A$$hole of a manager at a movie theater and you miss out on a few minutes of a movie ($20).

If you're manager is a d!ck, there are usually ways of getting around them or changing jobs.

There's no work around for law enforcement. I don't doubt that there are a lot of great officers and deputies out there, the problem is that their profession just like the "warning" system in this forum is deductive.

When law enforcement officers begin getting as corrupt as those in Mexico, we have a serious problem. ESPECIALLY since we can't pay them off

You wanna keep stirring the pot don't you.

I was unprofessional because I made one comment.

Actually if you would spend some time and read through all my posts, I gave quite a bit of interesting information.

I also have provided you and others quite a bit of valuable information about your cars over the past as well.

Send one of the admin an email and take your complaint up with them about my "unprofessionalism".

Walk away fellas... (All of you) You're not really going to drag on this all around ignorant cok swinging fest for another day are you?

Walk away... walk away... No one is quitting the forum and no one is getting booted... just agree to disagree and move on with your lives. You both are equally wrong and equally right on this topic so let it go... No one is going to win. these are just opinions people... no reason to get all crabby over the internet. We have bigger and better things to worry about in life.

IN AFTER THE LOCK. (because I can )

SBD, you have got to be the most cryingass, mistreated, unlucky, "woe-is-me" pantywaist nincompoop I have ever had the pleasure of meeting on the Intarweb.

<WHEW> I feel better now.

Seriously, this was J-Owner's thread. He's able to "sack up" and deal with a little disagreement, but you're still letting your damn uterus flap in the breeze?

Take some damn responsibility for your actions for crying out loud, and stay out of other people's issues. Brandon called someone a prick, Mike called someone an idiot, and they're over it.

Here's a little self-improvement lesson for you, free of charge: Next time something happens to you that you don't like, sit down, shut up, and THINK about what YOU might have done to bring it on.

If 30 people in a forum think you're a douche, you just might be a douche.

Hugs and kisses -

TEH MANAJMUNT

p.s. Brandon, sorry your thread got pooped in and closed. I've always enjoyed your posts (for YEARS) and was a little surprised at this one... We're working on FX50club.com and FX50forum.com right now, so you'll have to come back here anyway!
