I didn't? Those kind of speeds are not meant for roads shared by other drivers, no matter what time of the day.

and they have less wrecks than we do (as far as u.s vs germany), now yes i am aware they have less people

Then why make that point? They have less people, therefore they have less motor vehicle accidents. Bet you money the ratio of drivers to accidents is higher in Germany than the US.

Keep in mind, if you're traveling at high speed, you're pretty much helpless. Something gets in your path, there's no way you'll brake in time. Swerving will most likely cause a skid at high speeds, and not even the most experienced racer in the world can correct a skid at 140mph.

High speeds are dangerous, stupid, and reckless. Leave early, then you won't have to speed.

Nick.

Well that's intelligent. Germany has more people per capita for any given area than anywhere in the United States aside from New York, Chicago and LA. Their popluation is less in numbers but much more dense in concentration. They have less accidents. They have the M series roads that do not have a speed limit. But they have rules. And the population follows those rules better than our society follows our own rules.

Radar detectors are illegal but Valentine 1 and K40 systems are the best money can buy. I recommend k40. I was impressed by this site. Not so much anymore.

Cops that have been on the job for 20 years CAN tell as little as a 5mph difference in a speed of a car.

My friend was driving at 100 mph and a cop pulled out of a side street and saw us go flying by. When he pulled us over he asked my friend how fast he was going and he said 70-75 this was in a 35mph our way 45 mph the other way (screwed up road I dont get it). The cop then said thankyou for be honest with me, I think you have learned your lesson so I wont give you a ticket. Cops can tell with 5mph I dont think so that was 25mph and the cop believed him. Now if they are tailing you then yes they can tell it is easy to tell when you are going the speedlimit and someone in front or behind you is speeding you can tell but from a dead stop within 5 mph I dont think so.Now for the autobaun, They do have less acidents per mile of autobaun in germany than we do for mile of interstate in the United States but the accedents in Germany are 3x more likely to be fatal. Now I dont agree with the system of speeding tickets we have in this country however letting everyone go as fast as they want is only going to result in a lot more deaths. The biggest problem that I have with our tickets is that my 240 is a lot safer at 75 mph than an SUV is going to be at the same speed but I will get the same ticket as the person in the SUV.

has anyone used that "cop detector" that is supposed to beep at the detection of the trunking signal, independent of radar? It sounded like a great idea to me (especially being in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia) and SCC did a test on it.

I forget the name.

Anyone?
