Don't worry OP, majority of us have raced even if it was only for a few seconds. You guys are telling me you never get your car at WOT once in awhile by yourself? Alright then. A street race is nothing more than someone doing that at the same time as you.

i agree... im not gonna lie.. i give into temptation ocassionally... but i make sure its as 'safe' as possible (no nico does not support street racing-for the mods)

Drop the street racing debate. Seriously, it's an old, dead topic.

And for whoever it was that said "Early S13s were big." Big compared to what? S14s and S15s?

Also, for the OP. I did an autocross in my buddy's RX-7 with this group. It was fun as hell.
http://www.ncrscca.com/ They require you pass a tech inspection of course.. Remove all loose articles from your car. Obviously, wear a seat belt and a helmet. (They had loaners for those of us that didn't have our own.) The only problem I found with autocross is I hate freaking cones. I like turns you can see easily, instead of watching for pointer cones. I kept finding myself staring at the very next turn instead of a few turns ahead, so I wasn't putting down any respectable times until like my 3rd or 4th run.

There's always a bunch going on in the NC area, not really much going on in Greenville, I'd know because I live around there and the only thing that does go on is the import meet at Harley Davidson off Woodruff in Greenville. There was some sort of event going on around Charlotte but I can't remember, check it out thought.

Apparently you don't keep up with SCCA and things of that nature. They have stuff going on all over NC. Hell, Cherry Point even let them on base to do an autocross on the flight line.

A LOT of people run COMPLETELY stock cars. The RX-7 I drove was stock. There was a dude driving a honda accord with 220k on the clock on the original motor. There was even a guy with a cobra replica there.

LOL.. They just get confusing for the first couple laps. They recommend you walk the course as many times as possible before the runs start. It was still an adrenaline rush.

race him at a local race track with road course, guaranteed you'll shred him apart with the oversteer vs understeer battle.

Tell me I did not just watch 2 cars drag race each other when they're both running higher than the 14s.. Numbers looked blurry.

Yeah, I guess, but I don't enjoy watching 15 second straight line races for the same reason I don't like watching foot and bicycle races. I lose interest before they're over..

Drag racing is much cheaper by comparison... You can go to a local drag strip and usually run for less than $30... Try to get into a road course for that...
