Is the eclipse really that heavy? Once again, I'm so glad I gave up all the options on this car. With my stripped interior I think I'm down to like 2400lbs. I can't wait to see how I do on the track once I get the CA in.

Yep, the eclipse spyder was built from the ground up as a convertible so its not as heavy as it could have been, but a regular GST weighs around 3000 lbs and the changes in the spyder to add support increase its weight to around 3200lbs which is about as much as a GSX

i don't care what any of you guys say, the gsx and gst are a piece of ****. i beat my friend gst with a civic (now that's just a slap in the face when a NA with a SOHC motor beats a turbo) and some other dude with a gsx try to race me but couldn't even pull on me....

actually the RS and GS diferences are leather, sunroof, 16in rims and i belive 4wheel discs, they both have the 42oA motor and run mid-low 16s stock. Maybe my friend has a factory freak, but he drives the hell out of his car and it runs pretty damn well. Oh and the GST is no crappy car at all, with the potent 4g63 under the hood, almost anything can be fast.

the gs-t is nothing fantastic, you could beat one in stock NA 300zx I drove my buddy's around a lot and there was nothing fantastic about it. Gotta love the blow off valve though :-)

yes, but you're comparing a 3oozx car to one of hte calibur of something more along the lines of a 24o (the eclipse) the gst will keep up with most sport compacts today, the 24o, spec V, rsx type S and such

what kinds of mods were on your civic and what was done to the eclipses?? Because a stock 2G GSX will run 14.9s in the 1/4 mile and with just an intake exhaust and boost controller they can be in the low 14s high 13s. They have enormous potential, a buddy of mine has a 1G Talon AWD and with an intake, exhaust, 16G, and a 50 shot he was running a 12.0 in the 1/4 mile with a screwed up 2nd gear synchro.

And the things a GS has that the RS doesnt include:Sideskirtspainted door handles and mirrorsrear wiperAntenna in hatch glassRear discs (RS has drums)Rear sway bar (rs doesnt have one)Armrest inside the car (RS just has a cubby hole)Power windows and locksrear seats split 50/50 where on the RS they dont split at all

I believe thats all of them, My RS was basically a GS sans the power windows before it was totaled though. They are really nice cars, the only types of cars I ever lost to (out of the ones I raced of course) were the turbo DSMs, one spec V, and a turboed CRX, but then again my car was a freak.

Yea I hafta agree with you guys eclipse's has alot of potential. Stock they fall short though. Along with VW's Ive race a 1.8T, new Rabbit, Jetta. Beat all of em. But this turbo RS is gonna be a hard race to win, his best was a 14.5. So I gotta try an pull like half a second outta my a$$ somewhere haha. An to the guy with the CA you should have no problem winnin haha.

When did you begin to run 15 flat consistently? I thought you ran a 15.5 as your best?

1TuffRS-You might not remeber me but I use to post on the DSMTuner boards also (one of the "rare" factory freaks)... Sorry to here about your DSM, glad you're ok...I also lost mine when some idiot rear-ended me going about 40-45 and I was at a dead stop. Im also looking into a 240sx (91 w/ new engine, trans. and clutch). I would look for another 2gnt but I know I wont be lucky enough to get another "factory freak".

Not to start a war between DSMs and 240s (both have great potential), but when I had my 95 N/T I beat two 240s...The first one was my friend with a 95 240sx SE with just exhaust and I beat him by a car length and a half and the other was just some guy in a older 240 (89-94, not sure if he was stock or not) from a roll and I took him by 2-3 car lengths. Both were 5spd. Again Im not trying to start a war, just sharing my experiences against two 240s.

nlzmo400r, gsts are pretty slow from my experience, never raced one but seen em a million times, seen completly stock GSX's and TSI AWD talons race and talon always wins, whats with that? Anyways, my friend would beat em with his 3g eclipse GS(close but beat em) and now in his spec v he eats em alive, ive not seen one 4cyl engine beat him, granted they could be bad drivers or simply if nothing else not tuned for colorado altitude so i dont know about sea level but here a GST doesnt stand a chance against a spec v, but on the other hand would prolly take me:(. Not saying that all gst's are slow just the ones i've seen are........though there are some pretty hot chicks drivin em.

Gst's are very respectable in stock form, but the 4G63 is a very potent engine. I have beaten Gst's in a civic si that I built for a friend, but I also have a friend with a 1st gen talon tsi that runs 11's and is completly streetable. He used to take me "hunting" in it. Surprised the **** out of a lot of people. I'll never forget how hard that thing would pull outa the hole. He tried to race my bike once though I warned him. It runs 9's.:evilhaha

well up in colorado the dense air doesnt help turbo's, but anyway, ive seen them run, and they were quick, now the reason for most talons being quicker than the Mitsu AWD counterpart is weight probably, that and driver. Ive seen a couople of them run, and they put down RSX S's all the time, and run consistant 14.8s or so stock

yeah Top_End95 I remember you, and thanks man, I thought I was gonna die when my headlights lit up the trees and noticed I was still doing 60mph and spinning. But now Im trying to look for something better.

But on another note, I always thought that RWD cars would be capable of better 60' times than that. I got a 2.2 in my RS with 195/14/70 goodyear eagle RSA's. Not trying to knock you guys at all, just trying to gather more info from ya. Did you lower your rear tire pressure at all?
