well it wasn't really a race.. wasn't fair for him because he wasn't expecting it

2 lane highway.. g coupe was in the fastlane.. i pulled up next to him for a quick second (gs400).. then just took off

i hit a buck 10 (110 mph).. saw the g creepin' up behind me.. but i flashed my hazards cuz i had to exit lol.. it was probably only a 1 mile stretch at the most

you will find out very quickly that we (NICO) dont really condone that sort of behavior. racing is best left for the track and not public roads where accidents can occur. im sure you can appreciate that "policy". what does that car pack anyway? i know the older ones used to be rockets in their time.

i understand.. fair enough.. it's not something i usually do.. we were pretty much alone on the highway as well

kind of a rare thing.. i consider myself a very responsible driver.. but sometimes you gotta let it all hang out

the 1998 gs400 was the first year their second generation came out.. v8.. 4.0 liter.. 300 hp

not bad. my old caddy STS had 300hp /300torque. that thing went like stink and i never got pulled over in it because cops never suspected it could go that fast. i freaking miss that thing.

yeah i wouldn't suspect it either.. but i'm pretty sure those caddy's got some heat!

only mod i have on my car are some bilstein coilovers.. those things start to stiffen up after 80 mph.. it's pretty sweet.. you feel safe in the car even when you are going triple digits

1998 Lexus GS 400 5.8 14.3if it was a coupe than thats dead even with your car. a new sedan would be out on you 0-60. hope that helps.

p.s. you should waited for him and then go. i hate it when people just floor it and think they won cuz the other car was left behind.

Sometimes I can't resist a race myself but I almost never post about it on NICO.

Racing at the track is so cheap compared to the tickets. Don't they crush your car in CA if they catch you street racing?

New law will be introduced here where I live, 50km over the speedlimit, and you instantly get tagged a "street racer" and subject to minimum 2K fine... for the first offence

Same goes for pursuit of another vehicle... ouch

I'll C U @ the track!!! lol No need to risk that kind of BS... Jeff, what's this noise about car crushing?

heartless bastards

We've posted about the evils of street racing and they never learned. We posted about the evils of illegal mods and they never learn.

They learn when this happens.

Personally, I'd rather see their car in a cage (impounded) for a year or so, but the law is the law.

FYI...I already got bit for this. I was on my way to the highway. This side of the lights was 50km's and on the other side of the lights it magically turns to 100km ... I was doing 102km. So yeah 52 over, they suspended my license and impounded my car on the spot for 7 days.

Impound fee - $386Speeding fine - minimum $2000and maximum $10000.00because it was 50 over... the automatic ticket that goes with it is"Performing a stunt in a vehicle" aka Street racing $1500

So yeah... I'm fubarred right now.

I go to court June 27 to set trial.

Sean,

Dude sorry to hear that.

I do agree with this 50 km over but not on the highways. School area and city sure but not on the damn hwy. People going 130-140 on the 401 and the limiyt is 100. So if you go a hair faster you got that BS.

As I said school area or other high risky area sure.

Hwy no way. They should raise the speed limit on the 400's.

Thanks Zozo

Well even doing 150 on a highway is alot. But the way people drive on our 400 series hwy's, that isn't all that bad.

The thing is I wasn't doing 150 on the highway. I was on a road called Cawthra headed northbound. Cawthra turns into a highway past a set of lights called Maingate. So south of Maingate is 50km/hr and as soon as you pass Maingate it's 100km/hr

So I was accelerating to 102 to get onto the highway, that's when the popo jumped out and stopped me and then bent me over.

That street is a total cash grab because of the odd jump in posted speed limit. 17 people in one day were caught there doing the same thing!!

Over 5000 people have been charged with this new law since it passed in September. Including an 86 year old man and 2 OPP officers that were in their cruisers!!!

So be aware out there fellow Canucks... they are hiding and waiting!!

I know Sean you were not on the Hwy technically but almost there. I take that road sometimes if I have to. I usually take the Hwy27 or 10 if possible. I just wanted to say what I said.

It is pretty obvious why they went there instead to go around schools or other more important area.

That 86 years old dude, wow.

nice! Street racing is for vtecs anyway...

What is it about Lexus gs400's that they have to prove they are faster than a G35?? I had one do the same crap to me a few weeks ago. Then he gave me the thumbs down when I wouldn't race him.

Well basically he didn't expect it, so you really can't say much about it haha

The point were trying to make it don't race and post it on Nico because we don't want others getting influenced to race as well. We're not here to condone racing, we want everyone to be safe and live another day, i've been that route before, slowly I'm getting better

Thanks Rich...although, look at my situation I'm in, technically it qualifies for my car to be crushed as well.

That scares the hell out of me..
