That scares the hell out of me..
Your situation is far from street racing. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you!!!

Racing at the track is so cheap compared to the tickets. Don't they crush your car in CA if they catch you street racing?
not yet - a friend got nailed for racing last year- one of the few times he wasn't actually - he was going about 80 in his "mustang" the only thing mustang on that car was the shell - 351W stroked to 434 with a Gtrim blower runnin about 17lbs of boost - and some guy in a ricer honda blew by him at about 95 going under an overpass. next thing he gets pulled for "street racing".

ticket was $900 with a month of impound at about $1600, court ordered driver safety class too so figure a saturday shot with another $180 for the class.

Oh - then there was the issue of being left at the off ramp and they wouldn't let him get his cell out of the car before it was towed.

The cop was probably being extra stringent as the prior week a squad car pulled out to block an industrial road where some street races were going on and got T-boned. Over the next 3 mos they had the Ghetto Chopper up every friday and saturday night checking all of the known racing hangouts.

Rice is the car. Ricer is the driver.

It's just old pharts that have been there, done that, regret it now cause they've seen friends/family scarred for life due to the untimely death of friends/family involved in street racing accidents. They are as passionate about getting the message out as the street racer is about street racing. Yes, I'm one of those old pharts that fits the description above.

I suppose street racing is very similiar to smoking....if you stick your head in the sand and ignore the risks involved everything is great!!! But, once somebody starts putting those risks in your face it's a bummer dude!!

We buried my step-mother this weekend who died from emphysema. She was a very strong, great woman who knew how the keep my father in his place. She will be greatly missed by many. Her battle with emphysema was something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. She was a smoker, but had quit for years.

So in closing, put on your Superman cape, light one up, and go grab a gear!!

No lectures here, I only offer an explanation as to why others lecture.

2 lane highway.. g coupe was in the fastlane.. i pulled up next to him for a quick second (gs400).. then just took off

i hit a buck 10 (110 mph).. saw the g creepin' up behind me.. but i flashed my hazards cuz i had to exit lol.. it was probably only a 1 mile stretch at the most
BTW u are not alone 'cause when i first got my G i did the exact same thing in reverse...now before the lectures start again u need to know that i am one of those people who sets the cruise at or close to the speed limit, so this was a rare occaision but sometimes u just gotta do it.

Heres the story:i had just gotten my g and was following my sister (93 lexus sc400 riced out) going a leisurely 55mph on a pretty deserted highway when i caught the urge to show her what a real car would do. i kicked it about 1000 yards before the stop light & she never caught up. i think i might have hit 90mph before i slowed down. it was soo funny that i laughed til i cried.

June 27th! I've got a first attendance meeting for a 43 over on the 401, hopefully it'll be thrown out though.. cop wrote on ticket 45 over, wrong model year and "tow it". As the law is, 50 over is an instant tow, I believe. I don't believe a tow is merited if you are solely speeding, I wasn't charged with dangerous driving or anything(some people here might disagree).

p.s. It wasn't in the G, well, a G6...damn gm..

FYI...I already got bit for this. I was on my way to the highway. This side of the lights was 50km's and on the other side of the lights it magically turns to 100km ... I was doing 102km. So yeah 52 over, they suspended my license and impounded my car on the spot for 7 days.

Impound fee - $386Speeding fine - minimum $2000and maximum $10000.00because it was 50 over... the automatic ticket that goes with it is"Performing a stunt in a vehicle" aka Street racing $1500

So yeah... I'm fubarred right now.

I go to court June 27 to set trial.

Actually, I hate to be the bearer of bad news my friend. Simple mistakes on tickets like that are now ammended before the courts..so there's no more "technicality" defenses.

You are correct...as I found out the hardway...50 over is an instant tow and instant 7 day suspension because no matter what it is classified as "street racing" Believe me, I was far from racing anything when I got it.

Good luck with it!
