well since no one responds in the altima sectoin, i figured id let you guys cry over this one ;), today i found a lady with a 5spd 98 24osx SE, i was on my way home from work, and with the windows down, i asked if her car was a 5spd, and to my surprise it was. She complimented on my car, saying she wanted a new altima, i mentioned i wanted a 24o, but nice ones are hard to come by. Anyway, after messing around a lil bit, we get a pole position red light, she revs (i can't :( lol) and we take off, she gets me on launch, but i catch her quickly, around 45mph or so, and walk away, we also did a nice lil 4omph roll on (to about 8o) and i had about 1car or so on that one too, awesome looking car, although im not much of a fan of green. Too bad i can't beat my friends s13 like that (i dont catch him till almost 85mph from a stop),just thought id share my story, o, the s13 i lost to was a 93 5spd (new clutch) and i had one person in the car

5 speed driver must not have been good, cuz your altima is good for mid 16's with that auto transmission you opted for, and the 240 is good for high 15's. With good driving on both sides, you'd get spanked. Don't try arguing with the mid 16's on your car, that's waht they run. I've seen multiple QR powered altimas run 16.6's stock auto.

have something against me altiman? i feel some tension coming from your posts, i wont argue the mid 16s times my car is good for, and she was actually a pretty good drive, she chirped em in 1st, and a lil squeak in second, all in all, it was a pretty good run. When i race a friends s13 he wont beat me unless he launches 'perfectly'. And yes, haha, i was lucky to beat her, but ill take a lucky win anyday. O, just for the recond, i didnt 'opt' for the auto, trust me, i wish i had a 5spd very badly, but, take what u can get when u can get it ya know?

also, i'm guessing that when you walked away from her at 45, she had decided the race was over and let off

haha, no,it wasnt that easy of a walk, i didnt mean i walked on her as if she stopped moving, just pulled on her, and i know she was nailing it, i chated for a second at the next light and complimented on her car, and she mentioned that it 'still pulls really strong all the wa to 7k rpm', im not trying to say my car is faster or any of that, i was just mentioning the race, thats all

haha, atleast someone understands, i was just curious if the 98s were tat much slower than the s13s at all, cause i pulled on her much easier than i pulled on my frineds s13 ,of course she wasnt launching AS hard

so is there any reason why your coming into this forum bragging over a lucky victory. or is just to get people to start a fight? there is a reason why nobody responded in the altima boards, nobody cares. however questions and advice are more than welcome.

edit:my bad:icesangel

from what ive read and seen the 91de's were suposedly the quickest, which would be an s13, also the s13 is lighter

I've never had mine past 6300 RPM, it scares me too much, lol! I just got the car, don't want to blow up an engine or break anything so soon. Not worth it!

...nice to know I can if I want to though :D

That and her 93 prolly has alot lower compression than you. Just cuz it has a new clutch doesnt mean the engine isnt totally beat...

actually i raced her again today, exact same situation, except i didnt catch her quite as easily, off of launch i caught up by about 55mph this time, and we didnt run anymore after that, its fun coming home from a 1o hour day knowing u have a nice car with a cool girl driving it always willing to run

yep, they're rare, hell any 5spd 3rd gen is rare as hell, since they're tilted more toward luxury now. At first i was fine wih my auto, but now i want a 5spd very badly, o well, ill hang on to her atleast till she's paid off and then ill get something more sporty

throw in an 03' spec-v transmission! or if you want to chance it and go with a much lower gear set.... go with the 02' transmission.

haha i raced a dodge avenger super tricked for the hell of it yesterday... i felt like a 5 year old getting spanked... first off he squeeled all the way thru the intersection.. then pulled away at like 30 mph to an embarrasing 3 car space by the next light... although he did say i ddint expect you to beeven that close... so im not TOTALLY embarrassed... just wait till i get my s15 silforty bud... then whose gonna be the *****

exactly my thoughts, i had an 89, loved her, but got rid of it at 2ook, and now i think if i get another one, im either going to get a *pristine* s13 (or ill make it pristine) or a 97-98 SE 5spd

Ok guys, i love 240s but some of you are being total elitist here:

98 240 = 2.4 liter, 3000lbs for SE, and more drivetrane loss because of RWD02 alitma = 2.5 liter, 3000lbs for auto, and less drivetrane loss because of FWD

except for the launch i would expect the altima to win every time

that car would walk over ANY 240sx with a KA24DE (unless turbo) all day long and still have a warrenty.

this is true, and so was your previous statement, but i have an AUTO, so the altima is quicker when rolling, but from a stop, i get beat out of the whole and theres nothing i can do with it, and i belive a 98 SE 5spd weighs in at just under 29oo lbs
