if you have the average KA (high high 15's to low 16's with 5spd) the Spec V will tak you, more than likely that is, but u never know, if u smoke him on launch, he wont come back till about 75-8omph (and spec's are hard as *** to launch)

Unless he has something to free up his upper RPMs...cuz thats really where the KA dies:(

no the two cars are essentially stock. Ive got breather mods and this guy's spec v is bone stock. However, i have hella miles on my engine his is brand new, plus a 2.5 litre vrs 2.4 he has slightly more torque too. All in all, i would lose

my ka takes spec-v's no problem. All I have is 2.25" piping all the way back from the exhaust manifold an just a muffler at the end. An a KN filter. An hell of alot of miles 175k.

yea but u must admit, u dont have the 'average KA, and i gurantee you wont beat spec V's al day, a friend of mine has one and runs 15.1s-low 15.2s all day, and the only other guy that has one that i know around here runs 15.3s and his worst was a 15.5

theres more to it then just power, first off...if you have nice rubber you will eat him off the launch based on being rwd and better gearing.....It would come down to who is more comfortable with his car but if i was betting i would go on the 240 since the qr (is that the series name for the new 2.5) is a known underachiever :(

yea youd have to be comfortable in your car, and know how to drive it, otherwise, the other guy will eat you

even if you're comfortable, look at the power to weight ratio, and gearing, mathematically, he's got you. But if he really can't drive his car, and you can drive the hell out of your car, then u might have a shot, but you have to understand, he's got room for error, and you don't.

what about a '93 two door 325i 5spd inline 6 with a tuned ECU and short shifter against a '96 240sx 5spd with injen intake and aftermarket exhaust?

its all the launch, because at the track your racing against the clock, RT's dont matter. Now if you cut like .5-.6 on the street thatll give you the advantage an pull a realy low 60's youll have him. Thats why I can take alot of cars is the launch.

well i dont think im really going to race the guy, he's one of my friends. But when he first got the car he was in love with it. He was trying to decide between the sentra and a 98 honda prelude. Personally i would have went with the prelude as it has more HP and is wayyyy better looking. Both are front wheel drive.

The one thing he kept preaching was "high torque high torque" but i believe they have only like 5 ft lbs more than the 240 right??

that would be a close race, you'd have a chance for sure, depending on how 'tuned' his ECU is. A stock 95 328i 5spd runs 16.6s, and the stock 24o will easily pull 16.1-16flat, id put my money on the 24o in this race

the spec V is rated at 185 ft lbs of tq, thats 3o more ft lbs of tq at the crank from the factory, and the prelude is nice, but personally, i thi khtesvLOKS BER, IHA ETHE HEADLIGHTS ON THE PRELUDE, TOO BOXY AND OLD LLOOKING. aND SO WHA TIF HE'S YOUR FRIEND, TAKE HIM TO THE TRAACK AND GIVE HIM A RUN, JUST FOR KICKS
