So Since my insurance does not think the damges are 80% of what the car cost they want to fix it. So I decided I want to make sure to have all NISSAN Parts and ensure that my WHOLE car is inspected, I called my Super nice salesman who sold me the car and told him my situation. of course he felt horrible and said he would stay in contact with me and ensure that my car gets like new. Tomorrow my car is going to get towed to the Nissan body shop, he has close friends there that he trust, he said they would pull my transmission out and everything to ensure everything is safe and in place, like brand new and if its not then hey fix it! I did buy it brand new so why not!
going this route I'm sure is going to be pricey I'm sure but if anyone is going to fix my baby and I'm going to feel even the slightest comfortable with it, its going to be Nissan. Very interested to see what the quote will be so I can turn it over to my insurance. . .. . . . of course I would prefer to get it totaled and just order a brand new but I dont see that happening unless the quote that i get is 80% or more of what i paid for the car.
Because the car is so new I doubt there is a chance that non Nissan parts even exist. Besides I'm sure the insurance company will require Nissan parts. That said - just because you are going to a Nissan body shop doesnt mean they can't do a bad job. So I say follow up with the body shop - I personally like to drop in and check out me car along the repair process - look, ask questions etc (if you are not knowledgeable or comfortable maybe someone can do this for or with you). Most body and repair shops don't count on customers following up behind them- so I say don't wait until the car is repaired to follow up.
Once you get your estimate you can generally assume at least 1 week of repair time per $1,000 of repair cost - so if your if your estimate is $4,000 you can expect to wait at least a month to get your car back.
Good Luck.
