My led's themselves are 19 LED with proper 1156/1157 sockets. Their definately bright enough. Red for the back and amber up front...no white LED's here. I also have brake light LED's ready to go, but they only work for brake ON or brake OFF not nighttime lighting where they would be dim..still havent figured it out (havent had time)
as always ill post pics of whatever i do. I always post "Qxxx4's" on my threads not because im narcissistic but because it makes it easy for me to search for threads to link to people lol
im going with either optima or interstate. I dont pound my bass that loud but if i listen to my radio for more than 5 minutes with engine off at low volume my battery is dead. My friend put 2 12" in his saturn and just blew his alternator...yikes. I always get compliments on my system..my buddy the other day said my system is so much nicer than my other friends saturn because the sound is crisp and the bass is crisp....meanwhile the double 12" ported box saturn blows at your eardrums like a mofo. too much bass for such a small space
i was actually discussing your dynamatted underhood today, its definately a conversation piece!
Like I said I highly recommend the yellow top. I'd put it in even if I didn't have a system. We're going to drop them in my buddy's '05 Cobra(track car) and his '08 Shelby GT500 this weekend.
2x12's in a saturn is just stupid, especially if it's just subs and an amp without any sound damping. Whenever I see a dude rocking his system and all you hear is rattling it makes me feel that much better about my ride and all the work I put into it. I really want to pull em over and show them how it should sound. IMO a good system should enable you to roll down your window/open your door, walk 20ft away and say, "that sounds dope!"
I'm guessing that the brake lamps have 3 wires, hot lead 1, hot lead 2, and a common. So maybe the connector can be soldered into 2 separate LED's? So where's the link to the flasher circuit? Does it just go inline with the LED's? Does it use the same socket connector?
I used to have 2 JL Audio 12w4's in my old exploder and eventually built a new ported oversized box for them for the Q, it was pretty sick. I designed the back side so it was the same angle as the back seats when at full recline and matched that angle on the front side. I made it with 1-3/16" MDF cut on my C&C router. Then I had it upholstered with black vinyl to match the interior all on top of 1/4" foam so it had some cushion. I wanted to make sure that it didn't look like a kids car with 2x12's. I've still got the old amp, a crossfire 402 rated for 400w but metered up to 612w. It was so loud that it would make the hair on your head(not just the back of your neck) stand up. When it was in the exploder 2 local shops told me that it was loud enough to compete, but I never cared that much.
Anyways you won't believe how much of a difference the Dynamat made, the ride would sound completely different without it.

PS. Sorry for the Hijack Brian!
