you leave your rig at carpools????? "F" that

Theres so much theft/gas syphoning at the traflgar rd and james snow parkway lots on the 401, I see atleast one ad in every police blotter in my paper, Id imagine brampton/sauga cant be much safer

first time ive ever left it at one, ended up being near my dad so i wasnt about to make him drive all the way home and back or take two cars to kitchener. It was for about 4 hours.

the q is really unsafe anywhere you go.the safest place I feel it can be is surprisingly when im at work, parked right in front of the reception office in clear sight of the..receptionists. Going to miss that sense of security at my new job

wheel locks and 2 way alarm are next on the list (it sits on the driveway...i wake up every time i hear a noise to check on it)

no way, the qx4 is LAST on the list to be stolen.... worst case scenario, a tweeker might break the window and take whats inside....

personally, i parked mine in the ghetto for many years and it never got broken into (knock on wood) while friends would come over in hondas and acuras and those cars disappeared within 20 mins, parked right next to the Q!!!! the Q is invincible

Did you have to do anything to make it fit properly such as hub rings or anything or you only matched up the offset and bolt pattern, which is simple

Thanks

all you need to worry about offset and bolt pattern. I get some rub if i turn ALL the way which happens only really when im parking. The brakes are fine too no need to upgrade as of yet

thanks for the compliments!!

Looks slick Brian and I'm usually not a fan of anything bigger then 18's on the Q's.

BTW I took my window controls apart last night with hope that I could replace the lights in it with LED's and no dice. It's got LED's stock but they're soldered on the board!

So what's next on the list?

soldered on the board? surface mount? its still doable but very tricky.

whats next is a new battery, exhaust, some touch up paint work later on, and finish up my led conversion. I ordered blue arrow signals for my mirrors (i THINK itll look sharp) and an led flasher circuit for my turn signal bulbs which i refuse to install until they flash properly not like my cars having a seizure.

Other than that...find some missing pieces on interior and im dying to find an 01 qx4 rear door hatch, tahtd look awesome and i love the reverse lights on em.

The skys the limit really im never done. I wouldnt mind if my brakes wear out fast, excuse to get bigger rotors lol I also have to paint my rear drums black as they have some rust on em (not cool with chrome)

you getting a wheel/tire upgrade with that lift still or no?? i still find it so weird seeing the 97-00 qx4 wheels on your ride!! it looks surprisingly decent!

Go for the Optima Yellow Top, it offers a higher amount of cranking amps and I couldn't be happier with mine. You'll pay more but it'll be worth it.

The window control mod could be done but you'd have to cut out part of the board with a hot knife or wire to make it clean. It would be very time consuming and really tricky. Got a link for the arrow signals, that would look tight. I was thinking about doing amber LED's for my turn markers but the factory bulbs look good too. Where did you find the resistors?

Right now my lift is on hold, last week I worked a job that made me realize that I need a $3K laptop as a backup editing system for on location work. Once that's done I'll be saving up for the lift and wheels/tires upgrade. You should see my reverse lights with white LED's, looks sick. Once I'm done with the fogs and one more not thought of LED mod I'll probably take pics.

Im not using resistors for the turn signals. the flasher circuit i bought is basically a modified relay that changes the flash rate of the LED's to a normal cycle. My led's themselves are 19 LED with proper 1156/1157 sockets. Their definately bright enough. Red for the back and amber up front...no white LED's here. I also have brake light LED's ready to go, but they only work for brake ON or brake OFF not nighttime lighting where they would be dim..still havent figured it out (havent had time)

as always ill post pics of whatever i do. I always post "Qxxx4's" on my threads not because im narcissistic but because it makes it easy for me to search for threads to link to people lol

im going with either optima or interstate. I dont pound my bass that loud but if i listen to my radio for more than 5 minutes with engine off at low volume my battery is dead. My friend put 2 12" in his saturn and just blew his alternator...yikes. I always get compliments on my system..my buddy the other day said my system is so much nicer than my other friends saturn because the sound is crisp and the bass is crisp....meanwhile the double 12" ported box saturn blows at your eardrums like a mofo. too much bass for such a small space

i was actually discussing your dynamatted underhood today, its definately a conversation piece!

Like I said I highly recommend the yellow top. I'd put it in even if I didn't have a system. We're going to drop them in my buddy's '05 Cobra(track car) and his '08 Shelby GT500 this weekend.

2x12's in a saturn is just stupid, especially if it's just subs and an amp without any sound damping. Whenever I see a dude rocking his system and all you hear is rattling it makes me feel that much better about my ride and all the work I put into it. I really want to pull em over and show them how it should sound. IMO a good system should enable you to roll down your window/open your door, walk 20ft away and say, "that sounds dope!"

I'm guessing that the brake lamps have 3 wires, hot lead 1, hot lead 2, and a common. So maybe the connector can be soldered into 2 separate LED's? So where's the link to the flasher circuit? Does it just go inline with the LED's? Does it use the same socket connector?

I used to have 2 JL Audio 12w4's in my old exploder and eventually built a new ported oversized box for them for the Q, it was pretty sick. I designed the back side so it was the same angle as the back seats when at full recline and matched that angle on the front side. I made it with 1-3/16" MDF cut on my C&C router. Then I had it upholstered with black vinyl to match the interior all on top of 1/4" foam so it had some cushion. I wanted to make sure that it didn't look like a kids car with 2x12's. I've still got the old amp, a crossfire 402 rated for 400w but metered up to 612w. It was so loud that it would make the hair on your head(not just the back of your neck) stand up. When it was in the exploder 2 local shops told me that it was loud enough to compete, but I never cared that much.

Anyways you won't believe how much of a difference the Dynamat made, the ride would sound completely different without it.

Billy

PS. Sorry for the Hijack Brian!

Wheels looks great. The only different thing I would do is remove the rear wheels and paint the rear drums. I am just picky that way. I did both of mine when I threw mine on. Just sanded them and painted them black, so you wouldn't see any rust on them.

We almost look alike, lol.

Careful with that, cops don't like to see blue lights on the exterior of cars. That's how it is here, dunno about Canada, is it any different?

Yeah there exactly like that here. Thats a ticket for inpersonating a police officer. 2 of my friends have gotten one, its a $385 ticket, one had blue led windshield washers that blinked, the other had fogs n underbodies that strobed.

Both tickets stuck in court to

I never though about how a blue light could be considered impersonation, I'll definitely stick with stock colors. What type of half-a-tard would put strobes on their ride and drive with them on?

Ya Ive got a couple buddies that compete in HIN and are big into the show scene, so being around strobes and s*** that gives you seizures is nothing knew, and yeah pretty much always at night with downtown they have them going.

They might not bug Qxxx4 though, as its an suv, the cars that got tickets were an Rx7 and a Sc300. Both spectating/participating in street races, cops were just sticking everything they could

yeah when i change my oil i go to my friends shop and while i got the q up on the hoist im going to paint the rear drums for sure. it bugs the hell out of me!!

as for the blue lights, their turn signals that go on the mirrors, the flash is slower than a strobe of course so i dont know if it will be that much of a bother to cops. I got them cuz they were $14 on ebay....i went right for it lol I should have went with the red ones, itd look more oem..well see how these turn out first and Ill go from there, I just got them today....not sure how hard itll be to get the wire through the mirror to the inside. Kinda ricey but my curiosity is at its peak since ive never seen them on any cars around here...

You should pull your headlights and take out the orange/yellow corners. Will make it look alot cleaner.

I dont want to put my corners in the oven! and i see alotttt of cars/suv's doing it now, kind of seems cheap. Thats my opinion though, if it was easier id try it for sure.

as for the blue mirror signals...not going to do it....its rediculously teadious to route the wire into the car...even took off an inside panel and, nothing. I got frustrated. anyone know how to take apart the mirror to route the wire in? i dont really care too much if i cant get it, it was just something i wanted to try to see if it looked good!

I siliconed that missing wheel cap on, itll do until it falls off (if it ever does) by then ill have a replacement ready.

loving the length and randomness of this thread!

whats the difference between optima red top and yellow top? CCA? my crappy olllld battery never gave me a problem in the winter, always started first try with little hesitance, it just doesnt hold a charge well for accessories when the engine is off!

yeahim starting to believe the cops in the gta are not as bad as the U.S for hassling modifications. Or maybe were just lucky. Tint, HID's, blue turn signals, tinted turn signals/lights....none of us have been pulled over for it yet!

thats because any smart theif would take a common cheaper car. a Q gets attention and everyone knows luxury cars come with alarms. civics have them with options but also you see three hundredd civics a day so they would get alot further in a civic
