Bumping this up...just to confirm from my earlier posts...20x9 +35 will look good once the car is lowered 2" or so? Will I need spacers still? Got my eyes on a set and that's what he has available...the other option is 20x10.5 +45. But I don't really want to stagger, although I will consider it.

I'll never claim to be a wheel expert but I think you're going to need spacers with those if a flush look is what you're looking for.

Think about it, the stock 20's are 20x9 +43, so with your new wheels you're only pushing them out 8mm

Will I be okay staggering? Do those two sizes = same rotational mass so it won't throw off the AWD?

20x9 +35 front and 20x10.5 +45 rear

Here some photoshops I did:

Going staggered is a personal preference, some will tell you to not do it, others will tell you it's fine. I personally ran staggered 22's on my AWD FX45, never had issues, and will likely run staggered 20's on my AWD Q so take that for what it's worth to you.

The wheels aren't the issue, it depends on what size tires you plan on running. For what you've described 245/40 and 275/35 would work to not mess up your AWD.

Thanks for the info...sounds like it's a hassle...might just go non-staggered.

They won't be installed till the snow stops as these will be my summer set. So it'll be a while. Coilovers (or whatever other suspension I get) will go on as soon as I decide what I want.

Check out this video. It's mainly for adding spacers but the logic for measuring still good. Stock offset is 43mm so a 34mm offset would stick out 9mm farther which almost like using a 10mm spacer. A 20mm spacer would work with stock wheels maybe even 25mm spacer.

wheel-fitment-guide-t588222.html

You can also use this guide to compare setups and see how much it changes the fitment versus stock with wider wheels and tires. A 20x10.5 wheel with 45 offset will stick about 13mm which should fit just fine.

Somebody please jump in if I've explained this incorrectly.

Have you lowered the car yet? If not you might want to do that first and then measure for the best fitment that also gives you enough clearance especially on the front because you need to be able to turn the wheel.
:gotme Color on the wheels is personal preference. I prefer a dark wheel on a white car and I'm not really a fan of gold on anything.

If those are the only two options I vote gold. I love the look of a gold wheel on a white car. But I also suggest doing suspension first. I did wheels first on my last car and regretted it everyday until my lowering springs got installed. For me it was more the looks though. Big wheels on factory suspension make most cars look like they have been lifted with truck suspension.

If you go with white make sure its super close to your cars shade of white or have them painted the OE color. Color matched wheels that are a different shade then the car look horrible in my opinion.

Well stated, Debonair. In fact I saw a vid the other day. Nissan did a test with a factory car that came off the line with 18 inch wheels and they replaced the wheels with 20s. They had engineers from the factory and experts in wheel / tire handling drive the car in factory set-up, then with 20s. They were able to measure the changes in the behavior of the car as well as report on the handling and how each was affected.
The end result was the 20s raised the center of gravity of the car, making it less stable and controllable at speeds similar to hwy speeds. The 20s decreased the handling in turns (sharp and average turns), decreased the grip on wet roads, and increased the stopping distance - all making the car less safe, even in the hands of professional drivers.
If you are increasing the wheel size, you must consider how much increase in size, how much higher the car will sit, and then consider modifying the suspension to keep the car grippy, safe, and easy to handle in a tricky situation.
I am going from factory 18x8-47 to 19x8.5-40. I am also decreasing tire size from factory 245/45 down to 255/40 and that will negate about 95% of the changes caused by the larger wheels. I will maintain near-factory car behavior without needing to modify the suspension. If I went up to a 20in wheel, the suspension would definitely have to be modified to keep the car behavior in a safe range.

Thanks for the advise Debonair, i know it will raise the car really high, but im too scare that the offset wouldn't fit the car so i will see how the wheels look and fit before getting the Coil :) on that way i can tell what should i get for suspension just in case the wheels go wrong i can get a set of Air Managerman :) btw i dont see that much of M37 with Air suspension should i do it...wheels and Air almost 8k still thinking.....

Technically the car will not be any higher as long as the correct size tires are used. Large wheels just make the fender gap more obvious. Keep us posted on your purchases.

The rolling diameter should stay the same but the side wall of the tire should be reduced when getting bigger wheels. I went from 245/50/18 to 245/40/20 without changing the rolling diameter. Center of gravity and height should be the same...until you lower the car with springs, coilovers or air.

I think I've settled on this rim. Would love to get it in gloss black or matte black.

Is there some benefit to getting a wider rim? (8.5 vs 10)

I assume the tires are more expensive as well? (for the larger rim)

Wider rim = wider tire = strictly for looks. You aren't racing the car and needing the extra grip.
