I want to try and keep this stuff seperate..... And since Im the moderator here I can do whatever I want

Anyway, basically Im left with 4 options... Basically either way, the car is going to have be towed from Louisville, to my house north of indy.....

1. Part the car out

2. Try and sell the car as a whole

3. Junk the car

4. Throw in a JDM engine...

3.) Life's too short (even for you) and school's more important (if sucessful, you will be able to buy many Q45s).

option #5: If you don't NEED immed replacement car money, donate to charity, it's late in the year so u wont have to wait too long for you return.

But if you part her to other members here, you'll keep her soul alive.

I wouldn't spend the money to tow it home, maybe Fred will part it out for you on commission.

Take it to the lake and part that puppy out until it looks like the one on ebay for $1.00, nothing but the main chassis.

Wes....there have been several Q's parted recently (at least 3 this year) so ask around to see how much $$ they are getting and how long it takes to part it out. This will give you a much better idea of reality on the $$ from parting it out. However...since there have been these Q's recently parted...some of the parts might not be in such high demand as they once were and will take longer to find a buyer. Also you have to factor in Corey's Q in Vegas that he will probably be parting out.

Try to look at it this way....a new JDM engine will probably not materially change (increase) the value of your car when it was running, IMO.

I would junk it and take my next best car option for what ever monies I have available.

I think the one difference is Wes' has/is free labor and doesn't have the same restrictions others do/did. Your point of the "flooded" used Q parts market is valid, but I'm sure there are lots both on NICO as well as ebay that will allow him to recoup some monies.

He may even be able to offer an "installed" price, if the buyer wants to come to him.

The one resource Wes has is labor ... his.

While Q parts are in demand, I am not sure it would be the best use of Wes' time to be a junkyard dog. Better he spend his time on his studies.

Everyone who has been there knows a good university is a whole 'nother ball game. Suddenly, all the kids there are as smart as you are.

Wes is still in high school and if this was closer to SAT & college app time I'd have to agree, but this is his time before things get going strong in his senior year.

I do trust that his parents will "strongly" influence what happens.

Wes probably wouldn't benefit much, but his parents might, if the car's in their name. A lot of places are getting picky now though, and won't take a non-running vehicle.

Yes and many will not take a car older then 1994 also, it cost them more to have it towed and auctioned then it is worth.

If you dont want to part the car out sell it as a whole.

OK - so you are older than my grandkids - barely. Time to turn some wrenchs and part her out - if only for the education. Twenty years from now, high school kids then won't know what you are talking about when you reminisce about "...parting out a Q45...". Ummm...I'll take the fuel pump and controller. 8-)Good luckjohn

I still have my ad in the indy paper, so tomorrow im going to change it and say NEEDS MOTOR, make offer.. if I can get someone to pay 2 grand for it, I'll sell it on the spot and be over with it.....

At the end of this month, I have 5 days of time I could head up to the shop, take out a LOT of stuff (interior, most engine stuff, driveshaft, diff, etc) and take it home, store it in the attic, and sell it off as needed.....

JDM Engine, or find a lightly wrecked one.

There was one, on eBa, for $1000. The guy scraped the passenger sid, on a pole. The car ran fine, and he had just installed Tokiko Blues. I came very close to getting it, but I didn't have a shop to do the repairs.

I bet you could find a similar deal.

Wes, Wes, Wes.. Parts, parts, parts.... $$$, $$$, $$$... I'm in for the transmission cooler, RNP, Antenna and under plenum hoses. ..

If you enjoy tearing stuff apart then have fun parting. If you don't want to waste the time then scrap it. IMO you should get whatever you can from it. I see people asking for stuff all the time, so I think you could scrap at least 2 G's over time in parts.. up to you though bud. Wasn't your car on the organ donor list??

First off...sorry about your loss.

If you do decide to part it out, I am interested in the fenders, hood, bumper cover, headlights, corner lights and foglights.

I wouldn't wait too long for $2K on a non-running car. As much as we all love the Q45, I doubt anyone would pay that much for parts or the opportunity to pay more than it would cost for a running Q after installing a take-out. I say part it out... Throttle bodies have been selling on eBay for $150-200. I thought a few times of parting out that $600 Q I posted earlier, but I don't have the garage space or the time - two things that I get the impression you might have.

You know Wes that pic in your sig means a lot more now. A tribute to your car...kind of like the happy smiling portrait we use to remember loved ones by.

$2000 is pushing it man. We may know the value of the car but the regular joe in the street could care less. You would probably get $1000 easy maybe even $1200. I say part it out since you have the garage there. Take your time do it on weekends and part the puppy out and at least make a little of your investment back.
