quarter window clip replacement

So, I bought the clips that were suggested in this thread:

zerothread/189729

but I'm wondering if anyone else has done this modification, as ALL of my clips are busted off my driver's side.

I'm just kind of wondering if he had to cut the original post and drill all the way through the plate, or if he just welded it at the base?

my other problem is that I don't have access to a tig, so I was thinking if I had to attach the nut on the back I would cinch it down, JB weld it in place and lop off most of it with my dremel until the window could attach.

any suggestions are welcome.

i am doing the same mod soon on the same window as you....havent taken the window out yet so i would like to know about all issues i may run into. i still have to go to autozone to get that ford part. you don't know anyone who can weld it for you? thats the only way i would suggest you do it.
