I know a few weeks back there was a forum on needing help with broken side rear window guides for the convertibles. I had the same problem also, but no real answer came out of that forum. So I had to come up with something, and I did. The fix is simple and cost me less then five bucks!! If anyone still needs those guides let me know and I will continue with this write-up.

Ok, here it is. I went to a local parts store, Auto Zone, and was looking around in their HELP section. I found a Ford window guide that was the same size as the convertivbles. So I bought it and it works great. Here is the package.

It took a little modification, but it was simple to install. 1:Remove the glass from the metal plate. I used a large vise grip to grab the large metal washers and unscrewed them.

2: you must remove the broken roller, for me it was the middle one, the one on the bottom. I took a die grinder and grinded the end down so that I can take it out.

3:Install the new roller, BUT, first run the roller by had in the track because you might have to pry the track open in some places so that the roller will move smothly. Not much modifyin is need to get the roller to move freely. Now this is were you need to modify. The new roller comes with a nut that you are supposed to screw on to hold it in place. With the verts, if you use the nut to hold it in place then the glass will not go on because there isn't enough clearance for the nut. What you have to do is weld the stud to the metal plate. Simple and easy to do. Just becarefull because the heat made by the welder will melt the plastic roller. you have to tack weld a little at a time and allow it to cool. After welding just grind the stud and weld flush with the metal plate. install your window and you are all set. I hope this helps you vert lovers out. feel free to ask any questions. I tried my best to describe what i did.

here is a pictue of what i mean when i said that there wasn't enough room to use the stud and nut. That's why you have to weld it.

My fault, after re-reading my first post i can understand how you can get it mix up with the rear plastic window. I edited my first post so hopefully it will help clear things up.
