Hello,

Looking to install a remote start module on my Q70L. I've been looking at the Lessco and 12 Volt products. Has anyone installed either of these? What has been your experience with the install and functionality? 12 Volt is over a $100 more. Is it worth it?

Lessco: https://www.ebay.com/itm/363569408791
12 Volt: https://www.12volt.solutions/products/2 ... 7115122791

Thanks

Never heard of either of those unfortunately. I have a Fortin system in my older '11 M56x and it works beautifully. Even installed it myself.

Was the install plug & play? I really don't want to cut wires.

12volt is basically a overpriced repackaged fortin kit.

that ebay seller is also just selling you a repackaged fortin set :rotfl

buy it on amazon for cheaper
Fortin w/T-harness:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IEFZ7JM/
Warning: Do not buy the unit and T-harness separately. The standalone T-harness is not the same as the harness from the kit.

Flasher tool (Required):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016732QA

Remote (Optional): Pick your own if you want something with longer range, but here's the one I have and it's also the same on the 12volt site.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J086F7Y (This is a kit)
You might need to buy this to connect the antenna if you buy a different remote. it's included in the kit above.

Install guide:

you need to splice something no mater which one you buy.

I think there were a couple of taps, but I don't remember having to cut any wires (it's been 3-4 years). Most of it had harness adapters where you plug the OEM adapter into Fortin and then the other end into the main Fortin harness IIRC.

EDIT: Forgot that we had a HowTo here for it: how-to-install-fortin-remote-start-2012 ... 13141.html

Thank you. I think I will go with the Fortin.

I'm late but put a 12volt on my daughter's FX35 and works great, just waited on a sale to get it a little cheaper.

Has anyone talked with an Infiniti technician to see if our BCM has the control logic to add the remote start by simply adding the key fob that includes the start button? Below is a location (attempted to make link) to the 2015 Altima key fob reprogramming to add remote start. Note the Altima also required a new hood latch to add the "open" sensor but the Q70 already has that built in.

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere as my quick search didn't find it.

They always require a hood latch switch, but on most models which already have one, all that's needed is reconfiguring the "fob type" in the BCM so it knows to look for an RES button, then registering the new fobs. The RES is almost always a configuration option and not "hard coding" in the control units.

Has anyone upgraded the fob to RES successfully on a Q70 (ie has this been confirmed)?
