wow..Texasoil, thats great that you have lowered the price on the accumulators. Sopdadope and I were talking on the phone the other day and we said that more people would probably keep it active if you lowered the price.

Until I just read this post, I was pretty resolved to have the suspension converted becuase it made more financial sence. But in our conversation, based on the enthusiam Sopdadope had for the active, I really wanted to try to keep it active.

Here are some questions. 1. When I talked to Sopdadope, he said he had bought 2 accumulators from you, but unfortunatley they started leaking after about 15 months. If later if I do change the accumulators, and later one of the 9 accumulators go bad, what will the price be to get that one recharged? ($250) or $166 ($1500 / 9)

2. what if in 1-2 years you arent selling recharge units, is there anyone else Ill be able to get them from? or will I have to spring to convert the car at that time?

3. if one of the 9 accumulators goes out, how will I know which one is going out? do they leak a fluid? a gas?

4. If I only change out the 4 accumulators you recomend, how long should that last, assuming the other 5 accumulators are completely dead? in what situations will I notice the car with no shocks? will the car feel like metal on metal in any situation? is the car safe without the other 5?

5. If I only change out the 4 accumulators you recomend, how much would you charge me for those 4 ?

I have offered nine for $1500 as a special incentive to folks. A set of 4 strut accumulators would be more per unit ($200 each). My warranty is free replacement for one year, after that, 50% discount off of standard price at that time.

Obviously I wish to earn money doing this service, while encouraging owners to 'stay active.' I believe in these cars and the system.

If $175/accumulator results in more sales, that is what I will do. If it only means less money for the same number of sales, that does not help me any.

Comments anyone? Vote with orders please.

I did not hear from Sopadope about any deterioration in performance, or I would have supplied replacement units under the above terms or better.

To regain 90+% of original system performance, the strut and main accumulators need to be recharged. It would be difficult for anyone to detect by 'seat of pants' when the '90%' limit is reached because the deterioration is to 'standard suspension' performance levels. Only condition which would tax the system to that level is sustained large road surface undulations. Those conditions require the system to 'move' the wheels up and down a lot repeatedly, and the pump output accumulator may not have 'new' storage capacity, which would result in reaching the ultimate limit (the pump output rate) a little sooner. About 15% of the high pressure oil storage is in the pump output accumulator. If it is low/flat, the pump turns on sooner, supplementing the available fluid, thus resulting in about 10% overall loss in 'sustained rapid response' capability.

The two small accumulators on the valve assemblies are there to reduce/eleminate 'water hammer' noises during large system excursions like 'speed bumps', but they do not add significantly to the overall high pressure storage capacity. I would like for folks to replace them just to help protect the valve assemblies from the hydraulic shock.

Is there a parts list available and/or HOW TO guide / write up on this ? Texasoil ... Id pay for the write up with the purchase of recharged actuators.[ btw ]

Id like to see something on Cross Checking the complete Active Suspension systems components .... what signs to look for as far as wear, what to do about it, and what the proper parts are to replace. Oh, and proper maint. habits on this ever so critical SYSTEM.

The reason I bought this Q "a" was that one of my best friends owned this car prior and he is fanatical - I always bagged on him from dropping mad jing at the Infiniti dealer ... but then we rolled with the boys to Vegas from So CA in his rig .... 4 of us in the capsule ... clear stretch of tarmac ... 135 mph before I said ... AIGHT money - I get the picture..... Ive also raced vettes on the freeway and porsche's [as the passenger] AND rode thru many a corner with my cheeks clinching the leather and jaw on the floor as to how sweet this 4000 lb beast handled... As well as rolled in PLUSHNESS and STYLE - just ... chillin'

Im an Active Conservationist [but then I havent yet dumped endless cash in yet :-) ]
