I just tackled replacing the cabin microfilter on my 99 Q45. It was easier than I thought it would be. And thanks to infinititech1 on his post "replacing a/c micro filter-g35" (
zerothread/199424) I got some good tips.
Remove the panel (includes the trim peice) under the glove box. To do so, place your fingers in the holes in the panel and pull forward. It comes off fairly easily. It may be helpful to disconnect the floor light and other electrical connector, then remove the panel from the car so the glove box has somewhere to rest.
Remove the 3 screws under the glove box, and 4 screws found inside the glove box at the top. Pull gently and the glove box comes out. Let it rest on the floor as much as possible. There is no need to disconnect the wires (however I did initially because I wasn't sure where the filters were located).
Just to the left of center will be found two vertical plastic peices that almost look like a split ruler. (open your new microfilters and take a look at the end of them and you will recognize the ones currently installed in your vehicle). Remove the clip on the lower filter and pull to remove. The upper filter pretty much falls out.
Install the new filters and glove box/panel in reverse order. Voila!
I have a picture, but cannot successfully attach for some reason.
