My 1993 Q45 w/ 185,000 mi. has developed a leak where the tailpipe goes into the muffler. I bought a "cat-back" set from autopartswarehouse.com for 240 sx a few years ago, but I can't find a similar set for my Q now. I know I'm going to need this soon, and I have a good mechanic to install it, but can someone suggest something good to buy that closely resembles, or is better than the original?

Also, I have a rough idle and rough ignition at low rpms, and I suspect I need to replace one or more fuel injectors &/or spark plugs. Can someone suggest how to figure out what to do about this?

Thanks.Skitz, indy

Why not just have it welded?

No gain with cat backs, even if you could find them.

How are your chain guides?

Better go read the lettering on your trunk.

I wasn't aware of of any reason to be concerned about chain guides. And, the lettering on the back of the trunk doesn't really provide any clues about problems the car is experiencing.

You're going to need to do some reading:

http://www.q45.org/techhelp.html

Check out the sections on the chain guides, and ohm testing the injectors & knock sensors.

As far as the exhaust, read through these threads:

Brian was pointing out that there is no "y" in Infiniti. There is some debate on the chain guides in the '93, but to be sure you need to pull the front cover if you don't have documentation that they have been replaced - or checked and found to be of the updated design. The change-over from the plastic guides to metal backed guides happened some time in the 1993 model year run.

Welcome to NICO!

Maybe, as I don't think it has ever been verified absolutley by an owner who has owned one since new.
