Here are the only weight numbers I could find for now :D

"540 for the ka24 and 720 for the rb25"

Based on that (possibly inaccurate info), I can't imagine it would throw the balance of any/much more than an RB swap??

AgaricX, should you need any help, I'm in Houston and more than happy to share my knowledge on these cars.

Sorry about no replies. My wife and I were in a wreck involving out GSX Spyder. It's totalled.... *sigh* guess we have to start over.

Haven't worked on the VH project too much. I can answer some questions, though.

The Z32 transmission needed a custom adapter plate to bolt to the VH. The transmission works as if it were MADE for the VH. The gearing is great!

We don't know about weight distribution yet. The donor car is actually a convertible with the entire convertible assembly removed... so it's WAY off already. We hope to even it out as we develop. We do know the VH is lighter than the RB25 and heavier than the KA.

Yes we know that there is more than one AWD Z out there. Not too many in America though... I'm not concerned about what's done overseas. I'VE never seen one :)

We're soon to try dual T28's and see how she purrs. Hopefully within Feb we'll be done messing around and get down to show quality fabrication.

KA is more like 400-ish lbs.

Another push monster is born lol.

What did you use for a flywheel and for a clutch? Did the R32 flywheel bolt directly to the vh? I am actually looking to do this for a current project, details would be appreciated!

We didn't use a R series... anything. We used Z32 parts - 300ZX TT.

We plan on marketing the adapter plate, mounts and wiring when we're done... so all mysteries will be cleared up at some point.

What's a push monster? I assure you, we plan to 50/50 this badboy. It'll handle like a dream before we're finished.

d'oh! I just got out of work busting knuckles all day, I meant Z32, mental typo... my project isn't going to be a Silvia, to start off all development will be done on a q45, and then motor and transmission will go into the mysterioius donor body :) Just out of curiousity, how well does the shifter line up in the 240?

The shifter lines up about 1.5" further forward. We had to compromise in order to cram the exhaust into the tunnel without serious frame modification.

Have you found a source for forged internals for the VH? I have found a couple places, but most are in JP and the rest cost more than twice what we got the engine for.

In case yuo care... dump the Q45 transmission. It's barely worth the price of the scrap metal.

Yeah, a major part of this project is was always going to a manual transmission, never a question about that, only of which one to use! I haven't even begun to look for inside parts yet, fitment and ecu hacking are the two things that have to happen first, then we can concentrate on power. I wasn't aware the vh was a weak engine to begin with, other than rings. Anyone know what they can make/take under nitrous until they pop? I'd like to be making around 400hp conservatively, I'd like to think the stock vh could handle it. Anyone want to shine a light my way? Geez it'd be nice to have a vh forum...

You mean the VH ISN'T a weak engine, except for the rings.. Also the rings arn't that weak..

The VH is an extremly strong engine.. Check out the twin turbo projects that have been done to it.. Anyone who works on the engine, or tears it down agrees it's one of the strongest stock v8 engines ever produced..

I'd rethink the GTR gearbox thing for AWD.. you constantly be replacing them with new ones and have alot of bust 3rd gears with the torque of a modded VH.

We're going to run a VH41 with twin turbos, no intercooling and methanol with a Lenco box behind it, 9" rear a 33x17" slicks in a R32 GTR chassis.. stay tuned ;)

When will the adapter kit be ready. This is something I want desperately, and if the price is right (enough), I will be doing it. What will it cost?

Im sure a lot of the Q guys would be interested in the adapter plate to fit the VH45 on to a Z32 transmission... I cant wait to see if that swap is doable....

Now a Q45 with a manual transmission would be the ULTIMATE BMW killer right there.... The japanease 540i!!!!
