Alright guys, I know this has been posted a few times before, but I can not seem to find a definitive answer.

I've got the brake calipers from a 90-96 q45 out of a junk yard, and I know that the lines/banjo fittings will bolt up to it just fine (at least from what I hear). However when I tried to bolt the calipers up, they just wouldn't fit. I've read somewhere else that you need the mounting brackets for the calipers, but in a couple threads ( http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/N...rakes and zerothread/316293 ) it doesn't mention anything about that. Some threads mention the need for the caliper bolts off the q45, others do not. Can someone please straighten me out on this one?

I also know that I need to use SS lines as I'll need to trim the heat shield/splash guard/whatever you want to call it. I'm just stating this for the sake of the thread so when someone else searches for it, they have the full answer.

Also the issue of the q45 rotors being 5 lug comes into play. I know that my options are to either convert to 5 lug, redrill the rotors to 4 x 114.3, or use 94-00 altima rotors (plus shims because the altima rotors are 6mm thinner, correct?). I just want this part verified.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, I just want clarification so I can get these things on and going.

you should get j30's. Better pad selection and they are smaller no clearance problems and they have the same part number as the q45.

I didn't do my own brake install, a tuner shop did the work, so I can't help you on the caliper bolts...

And just to be clear, you are using the whole brake set-up from the Q45, not trying to mate the Q45 calipers to the S13 brake discs?

On the 5 lug rotors...

The option of redrilling seems to be pretty easy. Stack the old rotors upside down, then the new 5-lug rotors on top, bolt them together on one of the matching holes, then drill away. Its considered "unsafe" by 3 of the shops I talked to, but for them its a liability issue. Brembo apparently sells blank rotors that are pre-drilled for both 4 and 5 lug applications.

I wouldn't spend the money on 5 lug unless you are planning on buying a particular set of wheels that isn't made in a 4 lug pattern.

I didn't have SS brake lines put in on mine, and I haven't heard of them being required. And an FYI, the Q45 stuff only works on the front brakes... I didn't realize it until much later, as its never mentioned in the write-ups.

no im running j30 fronts with ss lines and sloted rotors. I would just re-drill the 5 lug rotors if you have them but only if you have a drill press. Trying it with a hand drill is super sketch. and you can use the stock rubber lines you dont need ss
