Test pipes don't have "cats" or catalytic converters, also known as straight pipes. Just a FYI. Illegal in California for highway/street use. High flow cats, however are CA legal, but does not necessarily comply with noise pollution laws

Yeah but you probably lost more through the drivetrain in your autotragic. Don't try getting into a pissing contest with the guys on here Richie, more than likely you're going to lose.

children are to be seen and not heard

and none of this is a call to bash richie, but to just look past when he's clearly speaking of things he has zero experience with, I just didn't want to see an obvious newb blindly following the advice of the blind

I have a relatively loud exhaust and I'm prepared to pay the consequences if SDPD gives me a citation for noise pollution and smog violations for my intake. My 6mt, 4 piston brembos, and even set of RE040's will kill your bone stock, tinted autotragic with variety set of tires, in the track.

I posted this in another forum, but it is aplicable here as well....

As the 350z progressed they got more HP, from 287 to 300 to 306. They also got less torque from 274 to 260 to 268. Also they tended to get heavier. For example a base model was around 3,1xx lbs in 03 and ended up around 3,5xx in o8 I beleive. It is pretty much a drivers race between the three motors due to torque variences and weight.

In addition to all that, the DE287 274ft/lbs engine saw more gains from things like exhaust, plenum spacer, ect than the rev up motors did. I am seeing 309 hp and 270ft/lbs at the WHEELS with the mods I have dode, and I have the DE motor. Companies like mines have gotten over 330 whp with the DE. Your 306 is probably around 250 to 265 at the wheels.

My comment above was in regards to R350Zz33's comment, for some reason it didn't show that. I was curious as to why he was so rude.....then I saw he was from NY, now it makes sense.

Actually Richie I grew up in NY, and you're an ***hole even compared to my standards. I lived there till I was 20 years old, which is longer than you've even been alive. So don't try the argument that I wasn't there long enough lol.

And another thing look at all the immigrants living in NY.... Some of them can't even speak english and they are doing just fine. I am sure a southerner would do fine as well.

Sure, you can call me a hick. Not from SC orginaly, but have been to NY. You guys are actually worse out of your element than your are in the city imo. Seems like the bigger A whole you are the better you feel about yourselves. LOL I have lived in a lot of places, and I can say that Charleston is a city I never want to leave.

Good point! I just can't understand why anyone would by an auto Z....unless of course it's for your wife, and she can't drive stick.

It's either he or his mom can't drive a stick. Mom can't drive a stick therefore, he had no choice but to drive a auto because Mom got him the car OR he actually did pay for the car but he can't drive a stick. WIFE is completely ruled out because no one in their right mind would marry this 17 yr old douch from NY:

Back to the topic...OP best suggestion I can give you is to save up a little more for HFC's so you don't have to worry about emissions. Like Evildky said, with test pipes, you're gonna have to crawl under the car everytime you have to smog your car. HFC's are completely legal in CA as far as emissions go, so you can leave it as it is.

So why buy an auto if you know that a 6mt performs better and is more marketable for resale?
