If your power band comes on at 5000, use a high stall speed converter, about 4000, so your turbo will be fully spooled up at launch. Use the 1.84 low range gearset to get out of the hole, and hold on Nelly. That converter will make daily driving very uncomfortable, but doable for Saturday nights. You will never miss a shift.

Just got a response from TCI on the weight of a powerglide. They say 100 pounds, plus about 25 to 35 for the converter. Thats pretty light!

Wow. :shocked2 Turbo Hydromatics are real porkers than. See how much it would be to stuff a TH 350 or 400 in there. It would give you another gear, and make it just a little bit easier to drive on the streets. Hey man keep us post on your adventure. This would be a very fun thing to follow.

Any idea what the Nissan transmission weighs? I know from laying undernrath on a clutch change, that that trans weighs more than that!

whew, nissan autos are heavy. nissan manuals are not bad though. i have put a clutch in a z32tt by myself and laying on the ground. the 240 trans is lighter still. a nissan auto(rwd) prob weighs like 170. the 4wd trannys are ridiculous.

I did a 260z in my apartment building parking lot, by myself. Felt like Ahnold afterwards.
