Just like the title says, we're looking for someone to try out some Pulstar plugs.
That means you get a free set of plugs for your car! Of course it comes with a catch, we need to hear back from you with a DETAILED description of what the plugs did for your motor.
Did you see an increase in power? Throttle response? Smoother idle? Better fuel economy? Etc . . .
We even had a guy that took the plugs to the dyno to do some testing.

If you do a REALLY good job there might even be something extra in it for you!
So how about it?
First person to post gets a free set of pulstars to try on their ride, but only if you're up to the challenge!!

The rally car needs pulstar's.

Ant doesn't count, he already has them.

edit: hmm, if only I could just delete his post, so I would be first. :chuckle:

I was gonna pick up a set of NGK plugs probably within a few days, if you guys wanna send a set of Pulstars out to me I'd be willing to switch between the both and give you a detailed description of the differences i feel in both of them. I understand you were looking for the first poster but i think you would have better feedback with atleast multiple users and im sure it wouldn't kill you to send out more than one set :gapteeth:

My car would have to actually be able to move first. I could tell ya how they work at idle and unloaded revs tho. Gimme a shot wouldya?

Well I'm not sure if you wanted a specific car to test them on, but I have a few different cars to test them on if offered plugs for them.

Alright, so I was asked to go ahead and post up my experience with the Pulstars.

The following results were found for my truck, an '85 Nissan/Datsun 720 with the carbureted Z24. The plugs were initially put in when the engine was completely stock, and have seen many mods throughout the course of their time in the truck. The current setup is the Z24 with a full custom exhaust and a Weber 38 DGES carb. The truck takes 2 plugs per cylinder, with the intake side firing about 10 degrees before the exhaust side. Current timing setting is roughly 30 degrees BTDC and 20 degrees BTDC respectively under full vacuum conditions.

I got them basically as soon as they came out from sparkplugs.com. Prior to running the Pulstars, I was using a set of NGK's, which worked great. But looking for more performance, I set my eye on the Pulstars. As soon as I installed them, I noticed something quite significant over the old NGK's, and that was an awesome increase in throttle response. For carbureted applications, like mine, Pulstars call for a retardation in timing for the extra spark they produce. However, in my particular case, they burned up the excess fuel I had been dumping in quite well. So with no timing adjustment whatsoever, the Pulstars helped burn the excess fuel at low RPMs very well leading to a very noticeable increase in low end torque for my old engine.

The other difference I noticed was a better idle speed. The engine just seemed to run smoother in idle conditions, and ran quieter as well. This made for a much nicer daily driver (at the time.) Also helping out the daily driver status of the vehicle was the fact I saw better gas mileage after the plugs as well. It wasn't much, typically 2 MPG. But over the course of the plug, 2 MPG adds up quite nicely when gas is over $3 a gallon.

As of recently, the vehicle has taken a much different turn performance wise. I no longer use it as a daily driver, but as a track car. The Pulstars have taken over a new role as well. With the addition of a BIG aftermarket carburetor, the Pulstars have become the main source of reassurance when it comes to making power. The retardation in timing is now gone, and the Pulstars run at around 30 degrees BTDC under full vacuum in order to help burn the excess fuel being thrown at the engine. The 25 year old powerplant now has new life in it, and it SCREAMS at wide open throttle. The low end torque is perfect for accelerating out of corners, and the extra horsepower is always desirable for straightaways.

With the Pulstars, my engine is set up with numbers that usually just don't work out on most applications. In most cases, the carburetor I have is 'too big' for setup I'm running, and different jets are needed in order make it run properly. But with the Pulstars, as long as the engine can still get enough air to breathe, the plugs will do all the extra work in order burn up the fuel being thrown at the cylinders, yielding a very desirable power and torque increase.

I've also seen pretty awesome results on the dyno. On a fully built Ford big block drag motor, running E85, the addition of the Pulstars alone added an extra 5 horsepower. However, after some fine tuning with the fuel and air ratios, it managed to pull an extra 10 HP, simply because the Pulstars allowed for a slightly more aggressive tune.

They are the best plug I have ever purchased, and I will be putting them in everything I own from here on out. It acts almost as good as an aftermarket ignition system, for much less.

Thanks a lot for posting that Pez, sounds like they really made a difference for you! I think motors like yours where the fuel isn't metered perfectly by a computer is where the most difference will be seen.

Ian, you're first my friend! Email me your address, phone number, and what you plan on putting them into: [email protected]. Everyone else, sorry tough luck!

well, i tried these on my 07 Sentra Spec V back in late 07 and had to return them because they sent me the ones that fit the 02-06 spec v's. I was told apparently someone just assumed the newer QR25 motor would hold the same plugs. I really was a bit excited about trying these out as i would have also posted the results on a nother forum exclusively for that platform (no longer around). I've checked probably once a month and still to this day there are no plugs available for my car. It's a shame, i would have loved to review these. If i could somehow get some 14mm spark plugs that will fit i would be more than glad to test them out.

edit: also, from my understanding, any plugs that fit my motor also fit for the 07+ VQ35 motors, aka the 07+ 350Z/G35/Maxima, etc. So it seems there is some loss in potential market for those platforms as well. Again, I'd love to try out some Pulse Plugs, even if i had to pay again.
