from looking at the pics looks like its an RPM based controller with multiple RPM bands, probably averaging or interpolating between neighboring bands somehow, that would let you set per RPM but not boost IGN retard/advance

And that would work OK, as long as you don't change you boost or turbo or anything else. As soon as you do, you'll have to retune it. It would still be best to have a way to modify the timing in relation to the boost though..

ehhh a lil better a lil worse. let just say im probably not goin to be manager for much longer ill prob go back to delivering and college. ill work less and make more. im goin to take some management classes and seminars and some other classes maybe look for a job in a differnt field.

i also got my eye on this pizza place down the street they just went under , i just might quit my place and go double my work load and try opening my own joint up. its only a mile from a major campus. i could have it turned around and making money in a few months.

i just saw a teradactyl humping a spaceship on t.v. ...... WTF!!!!!

OK got the motor all apart (Pulled the head and the oil pan in the car!)... and what a suprise! Just like Dee predicted.

"Hi I'm piston #3 and I'd like to give a nice big !"

Nice little chunk missing from the side where the rings are. Sweeeeeeeet :ylsuper

Anyone else have some stock DET pistons laying around? I've got 3 good DE pistons. Oh and 2 good DET pistons from the last motor.

I have 2 DET pistons that can be used without any dramas (#s 2 & 3). 1 and 4 have been sacrificed to the boost GOD.

OK,

Got her running tonight at around 9pm and I started around noon... I'm pretty proud of myself!

total damage done to my bank account:

headgasket: $30rings: $80headbolts and washers: $40ray's CA18DET turbo pistons: $80RTV silicone: $10hoses and misc. $10

Right around $200 which isn't too bad for a cracked piston in my opinion:) And I'd like to point out that I managed to do this with the motor in the car, and without any real problems (because I rock!) Of course my friend Kelvin and my new roommate some of you might remember as Siddhartha helped out alot too, but I impressed even myself today! lol

I took it for a short spin around the block and all feels well. Didn't go over 2500rpm and I need to spend more time tomorrow in better light making sure there aren't any hoses or things I missed, but at first glance it seems to be running well! Idles quietly and smooth, and driving feels just like before:) I'll report back tomorrow with more info!

Oh and I just picked up a z32 maf, 460cc RX7 injectors, an S-AFC and an AVC-R boost controller to play with. Just waiting on them to get here from japan... JapAndy on eBay rules:D

Glad I could help. The car is parked about 20 feet from my room, it was a sad site looking at her all torn up. She is ok now though.

should it be the same as before? I just kept the CAS attached to the front cover so its still in the same spot as it was before I removed it... I guess it doesn't hurt to re-shoot timing! Its running fine though:) Got my AVC-R and S-AFC hooked up today, so gonna go easy for awhile, then have some tuning fun time!

Hey Sean, those rings should be seated after about 20 min of idling. It really doesn't take much. I'd still take it easy for a week or so, but don't drive it like a grandma either...
