By the way there is no play in the turbo side to side or in and out...

Whats up man nice to see the project back in action mine is on hult do to money issues sucks i know what u felt .. but everything is looking good... Not to nock what you are doing or anything but that turbo sucks i have the same one no shaft play at all... master power just makes ****y turbos .. the only reason why i am useing it is cuz my car was stripped and they stole my GARRET 60-1 and i got the other one free... if you want to get a good turbo for the future i suggested an GARRET t3/60-1 or if you want to spend the extra money get the GARRET GT307R killer turbo thats what im getting now... just to let u know im not knocking you just givein you some insight on something im useing .... hope you dont take it anyway... good luck on the work i hope everything works out i want to see some more pics......

hey man dont worry i dont take anything the wrong way unless its personal....i love to hear other peoples ideas and stuff thats what makes the project work out int he end....you being able to mix your knowledge with other peoples knowledge here and there.....i know what you are saying about the master power the only reason i got this one is i trully didnt pay anything for one....and two this turbo itself put down 550 in an eagle talon so hey....cant complain about that you know....plus once i get it running you know how our cars are never finished trully. well i will be getting a built motor to hold up to 750 safely and then at that point ima upgrade the turbo but that wont be for another 6 or 8 months so in the mean time this turbo will do you get me.....i appreciate your info and i will be looking into that garret now that you brought it to my attention.....if you ever need any input for your car or anythign i am doing a 3d diagram in autocad of my setup so i should have that posted up soon enough or when its done one way or the other.....i am not one to hide my ****.....especially from other max owners like yourself willing ot push the limits.....i know that with this setup alone once its tuned and hitting nice numbers i will have broken the spirits of many people that dogged the stuff i wanted to use.....But my main concern is to see her fly in the street and the 1/4 mile

Guys i was wondering if any of you had a though on this i changed up the whole piping setup and i was wondering what you guys thought would be best for the placement of the MAF

I know the MAF is usually placed where it normally was before turbo but i have seen some max's with it at the filter side before the turbo to measure the air going into the turbo not into the IM...

let me know guys

A MAF measures total airflow rather than than just pressure, I'm not quite sure how that would affect things in this case. A primary concern is reducing turbulence enough that you don't get an inaccurate reading in the MAF.

I realize this isn't particularly helpful... :o

it kinda helped me see thats why i was concerned if putting it before the turbo right after the filter or at the IM side would make a difference since i am not sure if there is a greater airflow before or after the turbo.....

Most that I've seen, the MAF is on the unpressurized side, by the filter. I believe that you will have greater airflow on the filter side, but not so sure. check this for some of your answers, I 'm sorry, but do not have time to read it. I'll post up what we talked about on AIM as far as the MAF placement goes.

The MAF can be placed in either spot in a forced induction or naturally aspirated setup. There are benefits to both, but I'll stick with FI since it pertains directly to this thread.

If the MAF is placed between the TB and the IC, then the MAF will be measuring the air after it's compressed and heated, but not superheated since it will have gone through the IC. This will assist in richening the mixture since the airflow will be hotter then say a CAI or typical air box. Hotter air charge leads to more fuel and less timing, although this is assuming the IAT sensor is on the hot pipe as well.

Another benefit is that you won't receive the inherently rich condition that takes place when the atmospheric BOV vents. In most cases with the MAF before the turbo, the car will stumble and stall when the bov vents the already measured air and the ECU has added the fuel for the air that is now being vented.

My thoughts on the project as a whole, well the turbo is far to big. But we talked about that already. Everything else seems to be on par with a DIY setup. I'll definitely be following this project as things progress.

UPDATE................

Well the project max has come to a screaching hault......right now i am pretty much done with cars for a bit and everythign that goes into hooking them up.....Also i am not to happy with the way the car is coming out not that the setup was bad or anythign but that i cant do it right the first time and i am a firm believer in getting things done really right the first time so there is no need for fixing or correcting down the road. So i am moving on and going back to my old roots of bikes.....not crotchrockets but Harley's....i will still be on here and giving my 2 cents wherever its welcomed as a former maxima lover and owner.

For any of you that might be looking into any parts i may have ima put a list up tonight or tomorrow and let you guys have first crack at it before they go on Ebay it was a plasure and an honor having you guys help me out with this thing.....Eventually down the road maybe in a 2 or 3 years i will find me another se-l and have fun with that but for now its back to Harleys.Here are the links to where everythign is being listed for sale:
