Yea definitely make sure your car will not die before you start on cosmetics. I am thankful that my engine is still in great condition after some minor work.

Thanks so much for this. Can I get a picture of these guides? I have no clue on how to remove the front and get a look at these.

How hard is it to install a keyless entry system in a Q? Can I do it myself? I think that with the system I want to buy, I can program it to start the ignition also. It has three channels and the pictures of "Lock", "Unlock", and "Trunk Release". Wouldn't that make me one channel short for the ignition? Here's what I'm thinking of getting put in.

Is it hard to install new bulbs in my stock lights? I want to install these.

Any tips? I really love this car and want it to perform and look its best.

BTW, I took my Q on the Pennsylvania Turnpike today driving back to school (my first time with it on a highway) and it performed beautifully. 80mph feels like 40 in my Q as far as handling and ride goes. It's so smooth. I took a girl for a ride today and she was extremely impressed with the smoothness of the ride. I was pushing almost 100mph in the left lane without realizing it. I tried to keep it at 80, but as soon as i stopped paying attention, the needle crept back up to 90-95. I sense speeding tickets in my foreseeable future. I need to get a radar. Those are legal in NJ right? I never really had a need for one in my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I gotta admit I didn't have a chance to thoroughly read through this whole thread... but from what I gather, if you're looking to make an LED type taillight that uses "rods," check out the previous gen 5series bimmers, as some of them came with a similar style taillight that used, I believe, neon rods actually. As for differences between zenki and kouki Q45 taillights, the major change came in the form of the chrome trim garnishing the later taillights and center panel... the design and look of the reflector parts are different also

He's talking about the older Q compared to the 94-96 Q and how the tail lights are different.

so the 90-93 is different from the 94-96?? If it is.. that means i have to drive to ur place for u to do mine, becuase it would be undrivable if i remove.. if its the same... i can remove the 90-93 and send.. Regardless i doesnt matter.. because i got a 93 thats just sitting here looking dumb and i have nothing better to do wit it.. I thought he was saying that the bimmer made the same tail lights as the ones on the G50.. I was about to say...

anyone seen how the nissan murano lights are?

I saw them working today and had an epiphany! I will mold a peice of plexiglass in the shape of the old lens, then dye the whole thing red, place a pre-drilled hole pattern in the lens, put the leds in the tail light assembly, and bingo looks hella tight.

Still working out the wiring issues in my head... I might need to see the wiring diagram for the murano tail lights. Would be nice if someone found me a diagram...

That sounds like a very good idea. While I'm not much in the field of electrical engineering, to me it seems theoretically sound. I am quite excited about the results. Keep us posted.

The molded plexiglass idea sounds like a good one.

Have you considered doing sequential turn signals with this (like on mid-60s Cougars)? It looked neat on the Mercs...although the tail lights were a lot bigger. Actually, I wonder if it'd even be legal...

I have the appropriate LEDs to do it all wired and tested, just need to get a peg board and wire em all up

I think I can do it without, just some basic component knowledge is involved. The only thing I'm stuck on is, when the brake is depressed and the turn signal is on, how to bypass the brake signal and display the turn signal instead.

Yea that is very neat but you have 2x as much work involved with IC chips and all that jazz, if someone really wanted them like that I could do it but it would cost more.

Taking the lens off takes a lot of precision...

Only had 3 chips fly off the lens which I have now superglued back on.I'll take a pic of the lens with the shields taken off in a few.

I finished the center brake light and will have pix today when it warms up a little and can get someone to push the brake >.<

I need to know a count of how many people would want custom center brake lights.

I was just browsing on Rinkya.com and saw another set of led tail lights. Thought I'd post them here for anyone still looking at trying to make them. More pics and variations might help:

It mentions the following in the description:The second-half tail of Infiniti Q45 was crystal-ized, 8mm 球超 high-intensity LED is arranged into a brake portion, and 5mm ball LED is arranged into the blinker portion.

Not all of these share the same level of quality or led patterns. That's my first concern, then I'm with you...

I need to know if everyone wants plug and play, the style that everyone posts, or something unique.

whichever is the easiest to install, cheapest, and most stylish. I'm down.

The plug and play sounds great (i have almost no mechanical knowledge of a Q).
