hello,I have a 1991 240SX/SE fastback and the passenger power window stopped working. The driver side as well as the passenger side swithes do not activate the window. So, I guess the problem is not the switches. Is it the moter or something else. Is there a fuse?

Don't jump to conclusions just yet, the passenger switch failed on mine and neither switch would work, I just pulled the switch out and soaked it with electrical parts cleaner, its worked great ever since. The easiest way to tell if its the switch or the motor, pull off the door panel and unplug the two wires that go to the motor, use some jumper wires to manually feed battery voltage to the motor, if it works, fix the switch, if not, replace the motor.

thanks. I did hear that it could be some sort of amp or relay that is located behind the driver side door panel. Do you know what they are talking about?

the relay is a box behind the drivers door......if you try the window and you dont hear a click it could be that......there is a repair guide on 240sx tech i beleive...that or the switch is most likely the problem if neither window dosent work

The drivers window does work, but not the passenger window. Neither switch for passenger (drivers side) or passenger side works. You don't hear any clicks or noise. There is a tech. article on how to fix the relay (amp). I was just wondering to use the direct battery approach, How do you know if the window will go up or down since the switch is a toggle type switch. My window is in the up position now and I don't want it to be in the down position. If it goes down, how do I get it to go back up?

the relay is on the drivers side and only works the auto down function on the drivers window. the switch on the passenger side gets its ground from the drivers switch on 2 wires the second switch works as a pass through at rest. wiring to the passenger window comes from the drivers switch. the positve voltage goes to each switch . so if you check the plug on the passenger door switch you shoud have one positive wire and 2 negitive wires with the switch un plugged. the remaining two wires should go to the motor. if you are missing one of your grounds then you could have a bad drivers switch or a broken wire between the drivers and passenger door harness if you are missing the positive wire then its more than likely a broken wire between the fuse box and the passenger door switch, because the same fuse supplys power to both door switches. if the wiring is correct the make up two jumper wires ( unplug the switch pass side) and jump one pos wire to a motor wire and one neg to a motor wire if the connection arcs and the windows doesnt move the reverse the two jumpers. if the window still doesnt move tap the window motor while the jumpers are in place if the window moves after tapping the motor then you have a bad window motor. if it still doesnt work unplug the window motor put a test lite from one connection to the other on the plug that came off the window motor attach the jumpers like described before if the test lite lights replace the motor if it doesnt repair the wiring between the window switch and window motor. ok im done

if the window goes down reversing the wires will make it go up
