Hey guys, I've got a bad leak on my PS that I need to resolve. The pics show the area that is weeping. I can wipe the hose down and it starts to weep as soon as I remove the cloth. A couple of questions. Is this the part I need to get from Courtesy Nissan and has anyone done this replacement and does anyone have any advice.

Thanks guys (and gals)

subscribing, I am degreasing power steering pump area in the morning to try and locate a small leak also! I can not tell where its coming from, but always leaves 2 sposts the size of a silver dollar on driveway where parked.

CM, before ordering that hose, I would check out a local hydrolic shop. I have found that it is actually cheaper to have them make up hoses then to order OEM stuff like this. You would be amazed at all the different fittings and such they have right on hand to be able to make just about anything you would need.

hose you circled is the high pressure hose. You can get oem or buy an aftermarket from an auto parts store (or get it rebuilt by a hose shop).

If you feel really frisky, you can actually bypass that line & the hard line it connects to by getting a "custom" stainless braided or high-pressure teflon (like one from summit racing) w/ the corect fittings to go directly from pump -> rack. You can search on here, google, or the "other" forum for that info.

Also make sure to get brand new copper washers.

^^which is probably your best bet, those hard lines are a beach to get off. Its easiest to just take them off once, replace them with a stainless braided, and be good to go.

I had a leak, so I replaced mine with new OEM hose. If you buy OEM high pressure hose, there's hardline attached at the end. There was no way I could replace the whole thing. I think you have to drop front cross member to replace the whole thing. So I ditched lower hardline and replaced only high pressure hose. It's pretty easy, but make sure to get hardline wrench. I didn't use it and ended up using channel lock to unbolt. You should undo driver's side sway bar to have more rooms. It's pretty straight forward repair.

Is subtracting the hard line recommended? If I go the braided, stainless route will I have any problems with steering? Doesn't sound like it as many appear to have done it. Thanks

arent the high pressure hoses like 200 bucks? i thought so cause my suction hose cracked near the pump and i was lookin through the hoses online and im like god i hope this isnt the pressure one. and then i figured out its a return hose of sorts, but still was 30 bucks... ugh. for a piece of rubber with a stupid heat wrap around it.

It's also called flare nut wrench. It's boxed, so you have less chance stripping the nut. I stripped my nut because I didn't use this. Channel lock worked well.

degreese and scrub first if your engine isnt that clean. it def helps you figure out where its coming from. i thought my pump was leaking at first and almost yanked it off to rebuild the seals. till i saw the suction pipe was cracked at the bottom.

Yes, it's a common problem on 240s. I would have done this if this service was available when PS hose went bad on my car. Check it out.

Hey Stacy, I went with this option and had it installed: zerothread/307781It works well but there is a slight hesitation if the engine is reving low. By that I mean this option deletes a sensor of some kind. With the AC on there is no difference. All in all a good solution for the 240's PS problems.Good luck!
